22 Children killed and 25 Sick After Eating Food Poisoned With Insecticide [SEE PHOTOS] Posted: 17 Jul 2013 09:02 AM PDT 22 Children killed and 25 Sick After Eating Food Poisoned With Insecticide [SEE PHOTOS] At least 22 children died and many others were sick after eating a free school lunch that was tainted by a heavy dose of insecticide, officials in India said today. It was not immediately clear how chemicals ended up in the food in a school in the eastern state of Bihar, although one official said the food may not have been properly washed before it was cooked. Read More and see more pictures after the cut The children, between the ages of 8 and 11, fell ill yesterday soon after eating their school lunch in Masrakh, a village 50 miles north of the state capital of Patna. School authorities immediately stopped serving the meal of rice, lentils, soya and potatoes as the children started vomiting. The lunch, part of a popular country-wide campaign to give at least one hot meal to children from poor families, was cooked in the school kitchen. The children were quickly rushed to a local hospital and later to Patna for treatment, state official Abhijit Sinha said. In addition to the 22 children who died, another 25 children as well as the school cook have been taken to hospital, he said. Eight of them were in a serious condition. Treatment: The meal was cooked in the school kitchen, but school authorities stopped serving it as children started vomiting Authorities suspended an official in charge of the free meal scheme in the school and registered a case of criminal negligence against the school headmaster, who fled as soon as the children fell ill. P.K. Sahi, the state education minister, said a preliminary investigation suggested the food had traces of an organophosphate used as an insecticide on rice and wheat crops. It's believed the grain was not washed before it was served at the school, he said. However, villagers said the problem appeared to be with a side dish of soya and potatoes, adding that children who had not eaten that dish were fine - although they had eaten the rice and lentils. |
Beverly Osu Called Tonto Dikeh A Prostitute. (See message) Posted: 17 Jul 2013 09:00 AM PDT This is the reason why people are told to mind how they talk and react to issues because karma is a real b*t*h. When Beverly Osu, Nigeria representative in the ongoing Big Brothers Africa reality show, was dissing Tonto Dikeh in 2010 over Tonto's alleged relationship with Wizkid, little did she know that her words will go back to her someday. She called Tonto a prostitute for allegedly shagging wizkid, now she is the one throwing caution to the wind and shagging a South African on a national television. This is what i call a kettle calling pot black. KARMA! |

COSON Board Declares War On Copyright Royalty Defaulters Posted: 17 Jul 2013 08:52 AM PDT The full Board of Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON), the nation's sole approved collective management organization for musical works and sound recordings held a strategic meeting on Tuesday, July 16 in Lagos at which several critical decisions were taken. Rising from the meeting which took place at the Board room of the society in Opebi, Ikeja, a key member of the Board, Mr. Efe Omorogbe said: "We reviewed the compliance level with respect to music copyright royalty payments in Nigeria and came to the conclusion that while there are several users who have shown that they want to play by the rules, there are those who are playing games. They erroneously believe that they can conspire, delay and successfully confront COSON and continue the era of free music. They are badly mistaken and clearly do not understand the passion, total determination and zeal that drives the work of COSON". Mr. Omorogbe, CEO of Nowmuzik and manager of several top Nigerian artistes such as 2Face Idibia, J. Martins, Sheyi Shay, Tunde & Wunmi Obe, Sunny Neji, etc., went on to say, "those who are ready to work with COSON will find out that we are very reasonable and friendly. I however assure those who want a fight that they will badly regret the day they decided to engage COSON in a fight." Another member of the Board, Hon John Ewelukwa Udegbunam, National President, Music Label Owners & Recording Industries Association of Nigeria (MORAN) said "the Board has instructed that we immediately begin a nationwide mobilization of the members and supporters of COSON for a historic show down with those who have shown no respect for the law and the rights of musicians and investors in the music industry. If they think we are joking, they will be shocked. We will implement the directive of the Board to the letter. There will be no retreat and no surrender." Speaking after the meeting, star artiste and COSON Board member, Azeezat Allen said, "the Board identified some in the broadcast industry who believe that they can employ divide and rule tactics and break the unity of the music industry. They obviously do not understand that this is a revolution. COSON has revealed to Nigerian musicians what is possible. The rapid growth of COSON has shown that we can successfully run a positive, professional, transparent and accountable organization in our industry. I know some musicians who have received over a million naira each as royalty from COSON in the last six months. Before COSON, they were getting nothing. This is therefore personal. Nobody wants to go back to the days of old. Those who may have decided to fight COSON surely miscalculated." At the meeting, the Board thanked the thousands of Nigerians and persons from other lands who participated in the historic events of the COSON Week. The society's Chairman, Chief Tony Okoroji, General Manager, Mr. Chinedu Chukwuji and Chairman of the Board of the COSON Music Foundation, Evangelist (Dr.) Ebenezer Obey Fabiyi were commended for the exemplary leadership that successfully drove the seven historic events. The Board also singled out for special commendation, the Nigerian media and the many partners of COSON who successfully made COSON Week talk of the nation. It was also decided that arrangements be made to widely broadcast some of the events so that those who may have missed them can enjoy the thrills and frills of the unforgettable COSON Week. Amongst the several other decisions taken by the Board was the convocation of one day digital licensing summit under the banner of the Nigerian Music Industry Coalition to critically assess the digital exploitations of musical works and sound recordings in Nigeria. Nigerian women lead in skin bleaching Posted: 17 Jul 2013 08:43 AM PDT Nigerian women lead in skin bleaching THE World Health Organisation, WHO, has said 77 per cent of women in Nigeria use skin-lightening products, the world's highest percentage. The figure compares with 59 per cent in Togo, and 27 per cent in Senegal. The WHO report said the reasons for this are varied but most people said they use skin-lighteners because they want "white skin". WHO also said skin bleaching comes with hazardous health consequences. The dangers associated with the use of toxic compounds for skin bleaching include, blood cancers such as leukemia and cancers of the liver and kidneys, as well as severe skin conditions. It said hardcore bleachers use illegal ointments containing toxins like mercury, a metal that blocks production of melanin, which gives the skin its colour, but can also be toxic. The report said in many parts of Africa, lighter-skinned women are considered more beautiful and believed to be more successful, it is not women who obsessed with bleaching their skins. Some men too are involved in the practice. WHO investigation said lightening creams are not effectively regulated in Nigeria where even roadside vendors sell tubes and plastic bags of powders and ointments from cardboard boxes stacked along sidewalks in market districts. Many of the tubes are unlabelled as to their actual ingredients. According to Qatar based AI Jazeera, it reported that business is booming for shop selling skin-lightening products. A trader said, "About 90 percent of my clients come asking for skin whitening products," adding, "I sell it to them and give advice on what product is best for them and how to use them." |
How Man Masterminds His Friends Kidnap Because Of Money Posted: 17 Jul 2013 04:25 AM PDT Shock and disbelief could best describe the expression on the face of Kingsley Ifeanyi, on discovering that his kidnap was masterminded by his bosom friend, Jimoh Olalere. Ifeanyi's kidnap sent fears down the spines of his family and friends around the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos, as they wondered why anyone could even think of kidnapping an "ordinary" man. The bubble, however, burst on Monday: Following the arrest of ten suspected kidnappers by the Lagos State Police, who have been responsible for series of kidnapping at Ibeju-Lekki and its environs, to the amazement of all, one of the suspects, Jimoh Olalere, confessed to have masterminded Ifeanyi's kidnap out of jealousy. According to Jimoh, the quarrel started between him and his bosom friend following the sale of two plots of land by the latter and his alleged refusal to part with some money. " I sold two plots of land to Ifeanyi at the rate of N550,000 each. At the end of the deal, he was supposed to pay me some money because he sold the land at a higher rate to the buyer. When I accosted him, he told me to go to hell that he did not get much from the sale. But that has been the custom in my area. This resulted in a heated argument that almost led to a fight. "After that quarrel, we parted ways. I became angry because he went about telling people all sorts of negative things about me. Besides that, I felt he was carrying himself with so much arrogance and I decided to kidnap him to teach him a lesson. I contacted some of my friends who abducted him and took him to a building behind my house where he stayed for two days before he was taken to another hideout. "While in our custody, I visited his parents who told me that some people had put some calls to them demanding for N3 million for Ifeanyi's release. Pretending to be helping out, I started speaking with the kidnappers at the end of which we bargained for N500,000 for his release. They gave us a deadline for payment, failure of which they threatened to kill Ifeanyi. "During one of the telephone conversations, I told the kidnappers that I would like to speak with Ifeanyi, during which he told his mother where to get the sum of N200,000. His parents added the rest and handed a total of N500,000 to me to take to the kidnappers. I took the money to a designated point around Ibeju -Lekki at midnight and handed it over to one of them. The next day, my friend was released and there was jubilation in his family." New twist After Ifeanyi's release, Jimoh went to the kidnapper's hideout, only to be given the sum of N32,000. "I was angry and when I demanded to know why I should be given that peanut, they said they were more than ten, whereas we were nine in number. I got angry and threatened to reject the money but they dared me threatening that even if I exposed them that I would also be implicated. Out of frustration, I left there with the N32,000 that was not even enough for me to meet my family's immediate need. To be honest, I did not do it for money, I only did it to teach him a lesson because he is very proud." The father of four later became sober, apparently regretting his action. In an emotion-laden tone, he said: "Now, I have brought shame to my family, particularly my children. It will be better for me to die and forget about the shame than to live and keep atoning for my sin. I really do not know how to face my friend, his family, my wife and children," the 40-year-old Oyo state-born Jimoh said, shaking his head in regret. |

Akindele; It Was A Love That Was Too Brief Posted: 17 Jul 2013 03:45 AM PDT Some days after pictures that actress Funke Akindele took on location for a new movie – in which she acts as a palmwine tapper – circulated on the social media, the story of her separation from her husband, Kehinde Oloyede, broke to the surprise of many. The reported separation of the celebrated actress and her husband has further lengthens the list of celebrities with failed marriages in recent times, writes Punch's Temitayo Famutimi. Although rumours that usually trail weddings of entertainment celebrities demand that one exercise caution while reacting to such information, the channel from which the divorce scare came made it look too real. Oloyede relayed it on his Facebook page. He wrote, "It's with heavy heart that am announcing the separation of me nd ma wife Mrs Olufunke Akindele, we've both agreed to go our separate ways coz of irreconcilable differences. we still best of friends nd we 4ever remain gud friends." While he later sounded diplomatic in the statement, another one he posted on the page was far from being cordial as he seemed to have regretted ever going into the union. Akindele has not personally made any public statement on the development, but the fact that she has also ejected 'Oloyede' from her BB tag compounded the fear of many. Based on this separation, she has found herself in the class of artistes that have experienced failed marriages. On the list are notable acts such as Ayo Adesanya, Kate Henshaw, Eucharia Anunobi, Fathia Balogun, Monalisa Chinda, Doris Simon, Shan George, etc. As expected, the news of the divorce is attracting a lot of attention. In online reactions, some followers of the entertainment industry have expressed shock, with some saying actresses do not have enough understanding of what marriage entails. Perhaps what made the matter attract much interest is the pomp built around the wedding when it held in Lagos last year. Although a man said to be Akindele's publicist has been quoted as having confirmed the separation, the actress herself has not spoken about it. A search on her social media pages too did not record any comment from her concerning it. |
Did Prof Soyinka Actually Say This About Jonathan's Wife? Posted: 17 Jul 2013 03:41 AM PDT A quote has been circulating on the social media, said to have been made by the Nobel Laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka, which is a direct ridicule on President Gooodluck Jonathan's wife, Patience. Patience Jonathan is a Permanent Secretary in Bayelsa State, so I don't know if this statement credited to Prof Soyinka could be said to be the truth about her. See the quote below: "When you marry an illiterate woman, you make stupid decisions like Jonathan."If Prof Soyinka actually said this, how come an "illiterate" is made a Permanent Secretary? |
Evans Bipi, Patience Jonathan's Thug, Goes To Aso Rock Posted: 17 Jul 2013 03:15 AM PDT Rivers State Commissioner for Information, Ibim Semenitari has revealed that the Minister of Education (state) Nyesom "Wike had boasted after the failed impeachment attempt at the Rivers State House of Assembly that he would set Rivers State ablaze and render it ungovernable." Anyway, the man who said he is fighting Governor Rotimi Amaechi because he insulted his "Jesus Christ" was on Monday night spotted in Aso Rock Presidential villa. But what did Evans Bipi go there to do? It seems the Presidency is looking for a means to give credibility to Hon Bipi as "fake" Speaker of the House of Assembly in Rivers State, just like they are doing with Gov Jonah Jang who lost an election. From available records, at no time was Bipi elected Speaker by more than fore (4) members, even when he was giving his poorly delivered acceptance speech, there were just about 5 people present. But Hon Bipi surfaced in Aso Rock, claiming that since he has not been 'impeached' he remains the Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly. Bipi, who was in Aso Rock for a dinner hosted by President Goodluck Jonathan for delegates of a summit on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, claimed that his headship of the House of Assembly is sealed. In his words: "Of course, it is not contestable, I remain the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly because I have not been impeached. "A motion for impeachment was placed on the Speaker and I emerged as the Speaker and I have not been impeached. "How would it be five? We formed a quorum. It was a full house and I was duly elected; it was by over 23 lawmakers." Bipi also denied ever punching or assaulting any pro-Amaechi lawmaker during the fracas in the House. But Olokunbolablessing.blogspot.Com is in custody of a video where Bipi confessed openly to some thugs how he punched Hon Chidi Lloyd and how Chidi Lloyd shouted "I don die hey!" |

Posted: 17 Jul 2013 03:09 AM PDT Nigerian International and Super Eagles defender; Taiye Taiwo may be swimming in hot water as he has been nabbed to answer questions over tax fraud charges levelled against him by France as a Marseille court has already started judicial proceeding to seize his mansion based in Allauch, a French community situated east of Marseille and put at €600,000. Photo: Actress Liz Da Silva Spotted With A Sex Toy In Public Posted: 17 Jul 2013 03:02 AM PDT A fan sent this photo to Olokunbolablessing.blogspot.Com which clearly shows controversial actress, Liz Da Silva, who gave birth recently, with about three different men linked to her pregnancy, holding a sex toy. Anyway, I hear she has finally given the baby to one Alhaji Olaoye, that was not among all the three men in the picture initially. The Alhaji accepted the baby but with some conditions. He insisted she convert from Christianity to Islam; I hear she has already done so. |
