UPDATE: One Of The Igbos Deported To Onitsha Dies; Some Abandoned By Family Posted: 03 Aug 2013 11:09 AM PDT Residents of Onitsha, Anambra State, were greeted with the sight of 67 persons discovered to have been dropped by officials of Lagos State government on Wednesday, July 24, after the state government refused to come for them. On enquiry, they disclosed that they were arrested by Kick Against Indiscipline, KAI, officials from various parts of Lagos. They further stated that they were kept in different custody for a period of six months to two years before they were brought into Onitcha. But the people failed to say the truth that they were rehabilitated: Many of them were beggars, some were discovered to be hawkers whose goods were reportedly seized by KIA officials as it is against the law in Lagos. The elderly ones looked pale and sick. When news of the deportation spread across the state, officials of the Nigerian Red Cross Society led by its South East zonal chairman, Dr. Peter Emeka Katcy, arrived the scene at about 6am,where they began a section of interview with the deportees apparently to ascertain their claims. By noon, relatives of the some of the deportees surged Onitsha, where a total of 41 of them were taken to their different family houses while the Red Cross team whisked the remaining 18 to Onitsha South Local government township Stadium, where they were given first aid treatment and food. At the stadium, more relatives of the remaining deportees arrived on daily basis, from outside the state, identified their own and took them home. Some of them who were certified medically fit and could find their ways home, were given transport fare. One dead, others unconscious As at Monday, this week, only 5 of them were left in the one-room apartment at the stadium. Their identities were given as: Friday Ndukwe from Ohafia in Abia State; Grace Igbochi who claimed to be a Lagosian, Ugulari Tutua from Warri, Delta State; Chinyere Nocholas from Awomamma, Imo State and Rosemary Nathaniel from Ubakala Umuahia, Abia State. A member of the NRCS and Education Officer attached to the Onitsha South Local Government Education Authority, Nneoma Judith Nwora, disclosed that one of the deportees died on Friday from due to protracted illness, adding that the five remaining deportees comprised two males and three females. Some Rev. Sisters from nearby Madonna Mercy Convent had indicated interest to come and pick them for feeding and medical treatment, as their own family members have failed to come for them. It would have generated more controversy if the deportee who died on Friday was still in the rehabilitation centre of the Lagos State government. Some mischief makers would have even claimed that officials of KIA tortured the person to death. Please people should learn to care for their people, especially elderly ones. Stop allowing them move out of their home state to became destitute and nuisance in major cities like Abuja, Lagos and Port Harcourt. Some relatives of these people are enjoying themselves in cities, pretending like they don't know these poor people in their family. |

I Would Have Killed George Zimmerman if I Was Trayvon's Father- T.I Posted: 03 Aug 2013 11:02 AM PDT The death of seventeen-year-old Trayvon Martin and the highly-publicized trial that followed remains a much-discussed topic of conversation with many still voicing their opinion on the matter. Among those to offer their thoughts on the George Zimmerman trial was Atlanta rapper T.I. who didn't hold back when it concerned comments he made this week. During an interview with Power 98 FM, T.I. revealed that he would have taken justice into his own hands if he was the father of Trayvon Martin and would have instead found himself on trial. "Man, it was some bullshit…My hat goes off to the Martin family, because if it was me and my child, it wouldn't have been no trial," said T.I., according to Radio.com. "I'd have been on trial. It would've been the trial of the father who killed the man who killed [his child]. That would have been my story. My hat goes off because they [the Martin family] are much more clear and level-headed thinkers than I. I definitely think something needs to be done, but it's just another harsh reminder of the world that we live in." T.I.'s comments about the Zimmerman trial comes shortly after fellow rapper Rick Ross released "I Wonder Why," a record in which the Maybach Music Group founder compares himself to Martin and even uses audio from the trial in the song's outro. |
2Face Reacts To His Babymama's Marriage To Pastor Adeoye Posted: 03 Aug 2013 10:59 AM PDT It's kind of funny though for anyone to have thought of asking AfroPop star 2Face Idibia how he felt over his babymama, Sunmbo' marriage to Pastor Adeoye in Lagos recently. But he was asked the question anyway, and his answer is as cool as would be expected: "Sunmbo deserves all the best, I wish her many good things in her marriage. She's a nice person," he told an online magazine. Many had thought he actually loved Sunmbo more than his other babymamas and would marry her. It seems her deep involvement with church activities later made him change his ming. #GoFigure. Lols! |
Una Don Hear Dis One? Kenyan Lawyer Sues Israel For Killing Jesus Posted: 02 Aug 2013 11:51 AM PDT The state of Israel is being sued by a Kenyan lawyer in the International Criminal Court of Justice (ICJ) for the "trial and crucifixion of Jesus Christ," which the lawyer claims was "unlawful," according to regional media reports. Kenyan lawyer Dola Indidis says that Israel and the Jewish people should be held legally liable for Jesus's death, according to the Jerusalem Post. Indidis, who has taken his case the ICJ in The Hague, is also suing Tiberius, the emperor of Rome in 42 BCE, "Pontius Pilate, a selection of Jewish elders, King Herod, the Republic of Italy, and the State of Israel," according to the Post. Indidis is using the Bible as his primary piece of evidence against Israel. "Evidence today is on record in the Bible, and you cannot discredit the Bible," Indidis was quoted as saying by the Kenyan Citizen News. Indidis further "insists that the government for whom they acted can and should still be held responsible," the Post reported. Indidis, who reportedly is a former spokesman of the Kenyan Judiciary, insists that he has a "duty to uphold the dignity of Jesus." "I filed the case because it's my duty to uphold the dignity of Jesus and I have gone to the ICJ to seek justice for the man from Nazareth," Indidis was quoted as saying. "His selective and malicious prosecution violated his human rights through judicial misconduct, abuse of office bias and prejudice." Indidis further maintains that Jesus was not given a proper say during his trial and that his resulting punishment was unfairly carried out. "I am suing as a friend [of Jesus]," he was quoted as saying. When asked about the case, an ICJ official is reported to have said, "It is not even theoretically possible for us to consider this case," according to the Post. |

Beyonce and Jay Z called demons in D.C. Posted: 02 Aug 2013 11:40 AM PDT Two protesters set up shop outside The Mrs. Carter Show at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C. warning Mrs Obama and other concert goers that Beyonce and Jay Z were possessed by demons. Founder of the Pray at the Pump movement, Rocky Twyman, tells Afro.com "We believe that this couple is virtually destroying our youth. If you go on the Internet, you'll see stories about how they're both part of the Illuminati and you can see Jay-Z's use of the Satanic triangle symbol when he performs." "Jay-Z even declared himself to be God by referring to himself as Jehovah, and we don't think that this is the image that our young people need to be glorifying."Tyman hopes his movement will catch on with protests in every city on the rest of Beyonce's tour. |

Kate Middleton's Occupation Listed As 'Princess' On Son's Birth Certificate (Photos) Posted: 02 Aug 2013 11:31 AM PDT Today Friday August 2, 2013, Britain's Prince George's birth was documented. The birth certificate was not filled out very neatly, i blame that on a summer friday where everyone is in a hurry. :-) Meanwhile, in the birth certificate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge registered their occupation as 'Prince and Princess of United Kingdom'...which has caused an uproar in the United Kingdom. Although, the Duchess is unemployed in real-life but the Duke earns a paycheck as a pilot in Britain's Royal Air Force. Unemployed and Pilot on the streets but Prince and Princess on the sheets. See the full birth certificate of Prince George + the birth certificate of Prince Williams after the cut: |
Our Educated Girls Will Have No Husbands To Marry By 2023 Posted: 02 Aug 2013 11:27 AM PDT The National Council Of Catholic Women Organisation of Nigeria, yesterday have encouraged parents to send their male children to school. According to them, most male children are on the streets hawking, while they are supposed to be in school. In the next 10years there would be scarcity of quality husbands in the country. "The future of this country is going to be very bleak for the male-child. How many girls do you see hawking clothes? Go to Onitsha, they are all men. We have looked round and have come to see that there is a neglect of boys in education. Who are the armed robbers on the streets? They are mostly the boys. Let us concentrate on training boys. We might soon be faced with a situation where our educated girl-child will not find a corresponding suitable boy-child to marry. This is because more boys drop out of school, apparently because the high rate of unemployed youth discourages our young boys from appreciating the need to be educated. Quality husbands will become extremely scarce, with too many highly educated women looking for husbands, and settling for anyhow husbands, just to get married. The result of this type of situation is better imagined and will not augur well for Nigerians", their president stated. |
Husbands Will Soon Be Very Scarce; Women Group Cries Out Posted: 02 Aug 2013 11:25 AM PDT "The future of this country is going to be very bleak for the male-child [tomorrow's husbands]. How many girls do you see hawking clothes? Go to Onitsha, they are all men. "We have looked round and have come to see that there is a neglect of boys in education. Who are armed robbers on the streets? They are mostly the boys. The National Council of Catholic Women Organisation of Nigeria, NCCWO, on Thursday warned against the alarming drop of male-child in education. With the drop, the group noted that in the next 10 years, there would be a scarcity of men being able to be real husbands to a woman in the country. The organisation National President, Felicia Onyeabo, stated this at a briefing to herald the inauguration of Cor Mariae College, Abuja. "The NCCWO feels that a vacuum is being created, and very soon, we shall be faced with a situation where our educated girl-child will not find a corresponding suitable boy-child to marry. This is because more boys drop out of school, apparently because the high rate of unemployed youth discourages our young boys from appreciating the need to be educated," Madam Felicia said. One man to ten woman.......are we getting there any time soon? |
