The REAL reason why Chris Attioh quit Tinsel, Gbenro Ajibade on suspension

Posted: 15 Aug 2013 04:58 AM PDT

Chris attoh and Gbenro

Few days ago, I published that Ghanian actor and one of the leading roles in MNET's big soapie, Tinsel - Chris Attoh - issued a letter of resignation from the ongoing series claiming he was quitting to pursue other career interests...well, it appears there is more to the case!
It's like he was forced to resigned - he was on the verge of being sacked so it was either he quit by tendering a resignation letter or get sacked...infact the Tinsel management did him a big favor by asking him to resign.
He and Gbenro Ajibade (another tinsel star) were the victims but Gbenro was suspended instead...

Findings show that Ajibade may have been suspended because he failed to show up for long sequence of shoots involving his character 'Soji Bankole' - thus Gbenro may be facing disciplinary action for being away from set after traveling to the US for the just concluded one week long Africa Fashion show held in New York where he pranced the runway as a model.
There are already concerns the loss of these two actors plus other popular faces that has left the series may further affect ratings.

Siamese Twins With Four Hands, 3 Legs And Two Heads Born In Benue State

Posted: 15 Aug 2013 04:47 AM PDT

Siamese
The birth of siamese twins by a housewife, Mrs. Ene Musa Andrew, at the St. Daniels hospital, Otukpo, came as a great mystery to the people of Jerusalem street in Otukpo Local Government Area in Benue state.
There has never been any incident of this mysterious birth in any part of the various communities of the local government. Otukpo is the ancestral home of the Idoma nation, a minority tribe in the agrarian state.

It was gathered that the incident occurred penultimate Monday when the mother of the twins delivered through cesarean operation. The honed twins are still in the hospital without anyone to come for assistance.
It was also gathered that the siamese twins have four hands and three legs, two heads, two chests and noses, and that they posses the same pelvic girdle.

The proprietor of St. Daniels Hospital, Dr. M. O Daniel, said that the twins are joined together at the abdominal region with a shared female organ, with one having a healthy traces of surviving than the other.

He stated that the twins were eating well but it may result to complications if an urgent high-tech operation is not carried out outside the state and appealed to government agencies, philanthropists and religious institutions to come to the aid of the parents.

Mr. Andrew Musa, a corporal with the Nigeria Police currently serving with the Otukpo division is the father of the joined twins. He said "there has never been such strange delivery in his family lineage.

CBN - SMALLER NAIRA DENOMINATIONS WILL BE RELEASED SEPTEMBER ENDING

Posted: 15 Aug 2013 04:38 AM PDT

The Central Bank of Nigeria has disclosed it would take delivery of new naira notes before the end of September.

Deputy Governor, Operations, Dr Tunde Lemo, who revealed this in Abuja, stated that the public would get a large quantity of the new notes to replace the old and mutilated notes.
The apex bank had earlier said that new naira notes would be in circulation by June, and that the smaller denomination notes (N5, N10, N20, and N50) would be reprinted on paper.

"We are going to take delivery of the new notes from this month of August. We will take delivery of the new notes before the end of September. The public will get a large quantity of the new notes to replace the old and mutilated notes, particularly the higher denomination notes in the first instance, then later the lower denominations,'' he said.

On the scarcity of the lower denomination notes, Lemo blamed commercial banks for what he called "poor circulation''.
"For the lower denomination; well, I think the banks are really the ones that are really not allowing the lower denomination in circulation, largely, because of the carrying value.
"Most people don't require small denomination. But for buying things in the market, if you look at the veracity, you find out that the N50 circulate more than the smaller ones,'' he said.

Lemo has urged law enforcement agencies to arrest all illegal hawkers of new naira notes.
He also called on commercial banks to keep watchful eyes on their staff to avoid being used as conduit for illegal transfer of new notes to unauthorised hands.

Lemo said this should be done to ensure effective protection of the currency from abuse.
Meanwhile, CBN Director of Communications, Ugo Okoroafor, while explaining the situation recently, acknowledged the shortage of the lower denominations in the system but said the situation has improved.

This is as banking industry sources insist that the scarcity of lower denominations may not be unconnected with the government's suspension of the introduction of N5,000 note, which would have also ensured that lower denominations are minted to replace old ones.

"We (CBN) do not want to talk so that it would not be like we are forcing the Federal Government to reverse the suspension. But the scarcity cannot be far from the suspension of the N5,000 note proposal last year," he said.

Beside their non-availability, six years after their introduction by the CBN, the public has almost lost interest in monetary transactions involving the exchange of N5, N10, N20, and N50 polymer notes.

Kris Jenner Defends Kim And Kanye After President Obama Dissed Couple In Recent Interview

Posted: 15 Aug 2013 04:30 AM PDT

In a recent  interview, President Barrack Obama of the United states bemoaned the 'change in culture' that has warped the American Dream and referenced the E! network's popular Keeping Up With The Kardashians show.
In the interview, Obama suggested that Kim and Kanye have been influencing the younger generation to be obsessed with wealth and money.
See what he said after the cut.

In  President Obama's exact words:
"The American Dream involved some pretty basic stuff. A good job where you felt some security. A good education… People felt if they worked hard they could get there… I don't think people went around saying to themselves, 'I need to have a 10,000-square-foot house'… I think, there has also been a shift in culture. We weren't exposed to the things we didn't have in the same way that kids these days are. There was not that window into the lifestyles of the rich and famous. Kids weren't monitoring every day what Kim Kardashian was wearing, or where Kanye West was going on vacation, and thinking that somehow that was the mark of success."
As expected, the mother hen Kardashian matriarch has risen to the defense of her family.
During her new show 'Kris,' the 57 year old mother of 6 addressed President Obama's reference to Kimye, disagreeing with his views. She said:
'But, I wasn't aware that you could only set the bar so high and that we could only dream so big. I find it so odd that he's picking on Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Well, Kanye West, first of all, doesn't go on vacation. Ever,' And Kim Kardashian is the hardest-working young lady in the world. She never sleeps, she never stops, she never slows down and works so hard for what she's got. I bet the President has some friends with 10,000 square foot houses and he probably wouldn't mind going over there when asking them to have a party for campaigning for dollars to run for president,'
Oh-oh! Mama Jenner is really upset, lool.
Truth is, the Kardashians are as hated as they are loved. They're making a lot of money so they really shouldn't care about the negative comments now, should they?
Except when the person making them is the President of the United states.

RLG Communications searches for brand ambassador among BBA housemates

Posted: 15 Aug 2013 04:27 AM PDT

RLG communications manufacturers of the Uhuru Tablet and co- sponsors of the ongoing Big Brother Africa "The Chase" have announced their intention to appoint one of the Big Brother housemates as its brand ambassador. The question on their mind however is which of the housemates most qualifies for this? As far as the communications outfit is concerned this has not been an easy question to answer as there have been divergent views leading to the organisation's decision to bring the matter to the court of social media. Continue...

RLG is therefore calling on the general public to nominate housemates of their choice for this honour which we have been reliably informed will be very lucrative for the successful candidate. Members of the public are enjoined to vote for housemates of their choice via this blog, its rlg Nigeria facebook page or its twitter handle @rlg Nigeria.

It is instructive to note that just a couple of months ago the company sponsored the "put a smile on their faces" event which was an initiative of the Put A Smile n their Faces Foundation in which money and ICT devices were donated to homes specialised in catering for children with special needs. Immediately after that the company sponsored the BRT free bus ride for Lagosians in which they transported residents of Lagos state free for one month on selected routes (an initiative that is usually associated with governmental bodies). But Rlg did not stop there, because of the success of the BRT free bus ride and the attendant clamour for it to continue, Rlg is presently replicating the exercise in Osun State where they are currently training youths in applied ICT under the Osun State Youth Empowerment Scheme-Technology (OYESTECH) and also building a computer and mobile phone assembly plant. Under the Osun state exercise, commuters are being conveyed within Osogbo and also between Osogbo and neighbouring towns using the mini buses popularly called "Korope" that are prevalent in the State. As if that is not enough they are also offering scholarships to students as well as sending a selected number of the graduates of the OYESTECH programme to their assembly plant in Ghana for further training which ordinarily is outside their terms of reference with regards to the OYESTECH programme.

Daughter Of Award Winning Director Who Raped Daughters Opens Up On Abuse And How She Gave Birth To 5 Babies For Her Dad

Posted: 15 Aug 2013 04:26 AM PDT

Nightmare: Aziza Kibibi endured a hellish existence growing up when her father started raping her when she was about 8-years-old
Not too long ago, I posted the shocking story of an award winning music director sentenced to 90 years in prison for impregnating his daughter severally, and violently abusing them. If you missed the story please click HERE.
Now in a new REPORT, one of his daughters whom he impregnated 5 times opens up about her harrowing experience with her deranged father, whose excuse for incest was 'creating a pure bloodline.'
Read her story below:
Aziza Kibibi was only eight-years-old when her father - an MTV award-winning music video director -  started raping her. By 10, Aswad Ayinde's lessons teaching his daughter 'how to be a woman' turned violent and his regular raping produced five children out of incest in a perverse attempt to create a 'pure' bloodline.
Ayinde, who is also known as Charles McGill and won fame after directing The Fugees' 'Killing Me Softly' video, was sentenced to 50 years in prison on July 26, finally ending Kibibi's nightmare.
The incredibly brave woman, who is now 35, married and running a promising baking business, spoke out about the traumatic childhood this week for the first time.
Kibibi told NJ.com her childhood started off relatively normal. She lived with her mother and father on the third-floor of an apartment in Paterson, New Jersey, with her Jamaican immigrant grandparents living below.
Locked up: Her father, Aswad Ayinde, now faces a combined 90 years in prison for the sexual abuses he committed against two of his daughters.

Kibibi was home-schooled but still allowed to play with the neighborhood children. When her family grew to include eight children they moved into a bigger apartment in the same building.
It was when Kibibi started to mature that her father started giving her unwanted attention.
'He told me I was special. Initially, it was to teach me to be a woman,' she said. 'By the time he started having intercourse with me, he was getting more and more violent. When I would start fighting him, he would hit me. It was more about threats.'
Her father began to change, and became more controlling over the family. He moved them out of their grandparent's apartment to another house in Paterson before relocating to Eatontown in Southern New Jersey. The children were only allowed to watch a small amount of TV, and nothing that depicted traditional family life.
Modern medicine was outlawed in the house, and he actually told his wife that his relations with Kibibi were to treat her eczema.
Damaging: Kibibi gave birth to five children by her father, and many of them inherited a rare genetic disorder due to inbreeding

Kibibi wasn't the only one Ayinde was having sex with. He had a mistress - a Manhattan lawyer whom he had another two children with - and was also abusing one of Kibibi's sisters.
He called himself a polygamist and a prophet. His family was allowed to pray to god but could only do so through him.
'He said the world was going to end, and it was just going to be him and his offspring and that he was chosen,' his ex-wife, Beverly Ayinde testified at a 2010 pre-trial hearing. She said he was attempting to create a 'pure' bloodline by procreating with his daughters.
When Kibibi's first child was born without defects, Ayinde took it as proof and continued to rape the girl to get her pregnant.
But the following children would not be so lucky. Two further daughters born from her father would be diagnosed with phenylketonuria (PKU) a disease that prevents the body from breaking down amino acids. PKU can cause brain damage and seizures.
Better now: Since escaping her father, Kibibi has gotten her GED, married and started her own baking business

Dr. Anna Haroutunian, a PKU specialist who has treated Kibibi's children, said they definitely got the disease because of inbreeding.
PKU is a recessive gene, so both parents must have the gene in order for it to pass along to the child. The gene only appears at a rate of 1 in 4,000 world wide and is must lower for African-Americans. Likely Kibibi's paternal grandfather had the gene.
Over the years, Kibibi became obsessed with escaping. She would sleep just because her dreams were better than real life.
'I'd dream about running away. I'd dream about getting all my brothers and sisters — one of my sisters was a baby, and I was taking care of her — I'd dream about growing breasts and getting milk and running away with them somewhere,' she said.
When she was older and one of her sons fell sick, she finally got the courage to take him to the hospital since Ayinde was out of town on a business trip.
But she didn't know how to interact with the doctors and a social worker stepped in, alerting the Department of Youth a Family Services.
When Ayinde returned from his business trip he was enraged, and threatened to forcibly remove his son from the hospital.
s
Evil: Ayinde was sentenced to 90 years in prison
Child services stepped in before he could do that and placed them in separate homes.
After that Kibibi, her mother and her sisters moved away from Ayinde as she attempted to get her children back.
Her performance in state-mandated courses and counseling impressed the government officials and eventually her children were returned to her.
'She has been an exceptional mother,' Haroutunian said. 'She was so attentive and patient, it's remarkable. For a young girl - with all she's had - she has been just wonderful.'
Having to fight to get her children back also empowered Kibibi, and translated to her life after abuse. She now lives in East Orange, New Jersey with her husband.
She went back to school for her GED and will finish her liberal arts degree from Essex County College this fall. She also runs her own baking business and plans to start a restaurant someday.
Kibibi and her sister decided to finally bring charges against their abusive father. They delayed pressing charges since they were unsure the affect it would have on the children.
She shared her story in hopes of making a difference with those in a similar situation.
'Instead of just being an experience that I had, maybe this strengthened me. What doesn't break us makes us stronger.'

FFK apologizes for mentioning names of ex-girlfriends in his article

Posted: 15 Aug 2013 04:22 AM PDT

Ex-minister Femi Fani Kayode mentioned names of three former Igbo girlfriends in an article he wrote a few days back to prove he wasn't tribalistic and has nothing against the Igbos. People felt mentioning their names was disrespectful to the women. He has apologized. Find his statement below
'Chief Femi Fani-Kayode hereby expresses his deepest regrets for mentioning the names of three distinguished Nigerian ladies that he was once associated with in his last article titled ''A Word For Those Who Say I am A Tribalist''. He meant no harm by doing so and neither did he at any point make references to having had any sexual relations with any of these ladies when they were associated with him as is being suggested by some members of the public. He was simply trying to emphasise the fact that he has nothing against the igbo people and that his friendship with these three ladies in particular over the years provided some evidence of that.
For the record he has not seen Madame Chioma Anasoh, Chief Adaobi Kate Uchegbu and Ambassador Bianca Onoh in many years and he admits that it was inappropiate for him to have mentioned their names in the essay, to use them as a point of reference in a public discussion or to make any references whatsoever to the nature of their past association. All references to them have been erased from the updated version of the essay.

Chief Fani-Kayode has reached two of the ladies concerned and he has personally conveyed his unreserved apology to them both and to their families for his indiscretion. He shall endeavour to reach the third lady to do the same in the next few days. Chief Fani-Kayode has nothing more to say on this matter and would prefer to remain focused on issues of national importance and not of a personal nature''-

Mr. Bisi Lawal, Press Secretary to Chief Femi Fani-Kayode

Maybe this press secretary should start writing FFK's articles from now on. #justasuggestion. :-)

Lifestyle: Marriage Secrets Of HIGHLY Successful Couples[MUST READ]

Posted: 15 Aug 2013 03:58 AM PDT

I came across this article and found it very educative as well as interesting. The writeup highlights research results and advise from couples who have been married for decades. I thought to share with you guys, hoping you will learn a thing or two from it(even if ain't married now, you will someday) and put it into good use. Read below:
So listen up: Here are the 10 secrets of highly successful couples:
1. Successful couples enjoy each other. It's just that simple. They like to be together, talk together, do things together. Former Beatle Ringo Starr has been married to his wife Barbara for more than three decades. He says the "secret" to the couple's longevity is this: "I'm just blessed that she puts up with me. I love the woman. She loves me. There are less down days than up, and we get on really well. We spend a lot of time together. That's the deal."
2. Successful couples fight skillfully. "In conflict, be fair and generous," is wisdom from The Tao. When two people live together, they are bound to have differences of opinion and disagreements. Successful couples fight but do it skillfully; in a way that leaves the relationship stronger, not weaker. One technique they employ is their choice of words. For example, University of California (Berkeley) researchers looked at "connected" couples and discovered that they tend to use plural pronouns ("we", "us" and "ours") rather than singular pronouns ("I", "me" and "mine"). As a result, they were less likely to feel stressed out after the disagreement than couples who used singular pronouns. "Using 'we language' during a fight helps couples align themselves on the same team, as opposed to being adversaries," notes lead author Benjamin Seider.

3. Successful couples seek and offer forgiveness. They may not forgive and forget, but they do forgive and let it go. When they have done something wrong or hurtful, they offer an apology. When they are the wronged party, they accept the gift of an apology. Successful couples travel the pathway toward forgiving, which is outlined by author Clarissa Pinkola Estes, who cites these four stages for arrival at complete forgiveness:

-- Forgo: Take a break from thinking about the person or event for a while.

-- Forebear: Abstain from punishing, neither thinking about it nor acting on (the offense) in small or large ways. Give a bit of grace to the situation.

-- Forget: Refuse to dwell; let go and loosen one's hold, particularly on memory. To forget is an active -- not passive -- endeavor.

-- Forgive: Make a conscious decision to cease to harbor resentment, which includes forgiving a debt and giving up one's resolve to retaliate.

4. Successful couples are in it for the long haul. "There are only two options regarding commitment. You're either in or you're out. There's no such thing as life in between," says professional basketball coach Pat Riley. Successful couples don't just make promises to each other; they commit. After a marriage that spans 30 years, a couple named Doris and Jim say, "We are happy together because we have lived out our vows -- for richer, for poorer, for better, for worse, in sickness and in health." When Doris was in a serious auto accident a few years ago she remembers that "Jim was there all the way. He's an incredible husband, the most selfless person. He's the only person in the world I know I can count on."

5. Successful couples are positive about each other. Marriage researcher John Gottman, Ph.D, says happy couples have relationships "characterized by respect, affection and empathy, and they pay close attention to what's happening in each other's lives." Furthermore, his research reveals that happy and stable couples "made five positive remarks for every one negative remark when they were discussing conflict. In contrast, couples headed for divorce offered less than one positive remark for every single negative remark."

6. Successful couples learn and grow together. One couple, after being married for 30 years, decided they would both return to university for master's degrees in liberal arts. "It took us nearly five years. We had a great time being in class together, studying together, reading together. The program allowed us to expand our horizons as we took courses in religion, politics, literature, history, foreign policy. We even persuaded one professor to let us write a paper together: joint authors!" Partners in successful couples play to each other's strengths and interests. If one partner becomes more health conscious, the other joins. If one partner takes up a new activity, the other partner becomes supportive and involved. The end result is a stronger emotional bond and a deeper love.

7. Successful couples never stop dating. That was one of the "secrets" of a happy relationship uncovered by Matthew Boggs and Jason Miller. The duo traveled over 12,000 miles searching and interviewing people they called "marriage masters" -- those married 40 years or more. One common element to many marriage masters was their ability to keep the romance going. Some set aside one evening a week for a date, others planned romantic getaways periodically, while others still met most afternoons for conversation at a coffee or tea shop.

8. Successful couples bring each other joy. In his book, The Real Rules of Life: Balancing Life's Terms with Your Own, Ken Druck, Ph.D, tells about a workshop he gave to his wife as a birthday gift. "She had a beautiful voice that she rarely used. What better gift than to unleash the joy she already possessed." In the workshop, participants of every age and background were encouraged to "vanquish the wagging finger of self-condemnation and sing their hearts out." The workshop high point was a live concert for family and friends. "With the exception of our children's births, I can never recall my wife as having been so joyful and happy."

9. Successful couples adhere to the 60/40 rule. Boggs and Miller also discovered that "marriage masters" have a high level of selflessness. "Walter" whom they interviewed, told them, "I'll never forget what my mentor told my wife and me before we got married 42 years ago. He looked at us and said, 'Most people think marriage is 50/50. It's not. It's 60/40. You give 60. You take 40. And that goes for both of you." It was a principle Walter and his wife adhered to faithfully.

10. Successful couples have shared values. When asked about her successful relationship of 58 years, "Emma," age 87, smiled and proudly said, "It is quite an achievement. It's important to have the same basic values. In other words, if you're a free spender, marry someone who understands that. If you're frugal, you need to marry someone who understands that because money is one of the stumbling blocks in marriage. Fortunately, we had the same values on most things. We usually had the same goals -- we believed in education; we wanted to be moral; we wanted to raise children to be good citizens and to be responsible in terms of finances."

Poet Robert Browning put the secret to successful couples in a nutshell when he wrote, "Success in marriage is more than finding the right person: It is being the right person."

I hope this helps you and can be a reference point in future whenever you're having issues and down points in your relationships or marriage.
Some of the points highlighted also help in day to day relationships and interactions with people and friends generally. Did you learn a thing or two?

Jonathan Is A Drowning President ––El-Rufai Reveals Facts

Posted: 15 Aug 2013 03:52 AM PDT

Former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, has described President Goodluck Jonathan as a drowning President, who relishes at distorting facts.
"It may interest the President to know that Nigerians are much wiser now and will not be deceived by the antics of a drowning president and his desperate aides."
"If Jonathan is not playing the ethnic card, can he possibly explain to Nigerians why Bayelsa, which has the smallest population in Nigeria and the fewest number of local government areas, has more than double the number of federal appointees measured by population and weight of responsibility than that of the next state?"
El-Rufai, in a statement on Wednesday, insisted that Jonathan had resorted to ethnic and religious politics to score cheap political points.

President's spokesman, Dr. Reuben Abati, on Sunday described el-Rufai as "a serial liar" while responding to an interview the former minister granted Liberty FM, Kaduna, on Saturday.

El-Rufai, in the interview, had said Jonathan was playing religious and ethnic politics.

The former minister, who, on Wednesday, insisted that Jonathan was playing the ethnic game, noted that the Presidency had not addressed the issues he raised.

El-Rufai, for instance, said Jonathan favoured his home state, Bayelsa in federal appointments, citing a report by Governance and Sustainable Initiatives Limited, entitled "Analysis and Lessons of the Current Geopolitical Distribution of Federal Appointments", to support his claim.

He said, "The Jonathan administration is said to have favoured his home state of Bayelsa 200 per cent times more than the next states with the highest federal representation – Delta, Edo and Anambra.

According to him, the most populous states, Lagos and Kano are at the bottom of the representation ladder.

He recalled that the President was quick to exonerate those he called "my people" from the October 1, 2010 bombings in Abuja. El-Rufai said Henry Okah, convicted of the offence in South Africa, revealed that a Presidency official contacted him to implicate some northerners.

He also said after the 2011 elections, Jonathan told a delegation of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo that the only votes he got from the North were from Igbo residents in the region.

He asked, "Are those the words of a patriot or an ethnic bigot? This was after an election where he received nearly 100 per cent of all votes cast in the South-South and South-East states, in some cases getting more votes than there were registered voters or even residents."

Posted: 15 Aug 2013 03:48 AM PDT

Before now, I had set out to post beautiful stories people can learn a thing or two from, on the blog, be it fact or fiction.
Today, I came across one of such stories, and  enjoyed it immensely, despite how lengthy it was. Although it's fiction, the story tells of how once in a lifetime, the parts of soul mates cross, but are kept apart by the cruel hands of fate. By the end of the story, I'm sure you'd agree with me that the writer Lulufa Vongtau, is brilliant to say the least.
Sit back, grab a drink or snack if close by and enjoy this emotion evoking story:
FOR there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again and that the tender branch thereof will not cease. Though the root thereof wax old in the earth and the stock thereof die in the ground. Yet through the scent of water it will bud and bring forth boughs like a plant. Job 14.7- 9 KJV.

She was not beautiful. Yet she had things that made one notice her, and notice her in the most civilized manner. It was her hands; they were the first things about her I noticed as we both reached for the same tape at the checkout counter of the home video rental club. They looked soft and fresh; manicured, the nails were painted a very lady like pink, with just the right touch of chipping on one or two nails to discourage a verdict of perfection. I murmured 'Ladies first' and she accepted, graciously, like a lady. I followed the hands up to and past her elbow to her face.

You Are Deceiving Nigerians ––ASUU Blasts Okonjo-Iweala

Posted: 15 Aug 2013 03:44 AM PDT

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, said the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, is lying to the entire nation.
"This is a government that signed an agreement with us on January 24, 2012 to the effect that they would inject N100 billion as funding into the universities in the first one month and that before the end of 2012, they would inject another N300 billion. The same government did not put down a kobo to any of these universities.
"So, it is a sad story that we are hearing now that the government cannot meet a demand of N87 billion whereas the government said that they would keep on putting N400 billion annually for three years consecutively to the tune of about N1.2 trillion. If the government is now saying it cannot meet N87billion, Nigerians should know that this is not a government that can be trusted for anything.
ASUU described as a misrepresentation of facts, the comment made by Dr. Okonjo-Iweala, that the striking university lecturers demanded N92 billion as earned allowances in the 2009 agreement.

Speaking through Chairman of University of Ibadan chapter, Dr. Olusegun Ajiboye, ASUU said the Federal Government and the minister are not telling the truth.

In a statement, the union said: "I want Nigerians to ask the minister where she got her figure of N92 billion from. There was never a time that ASUU made a demand that is up to N92 billion. I think the 92 billion naira is just the imagination of the Minister of Finance and Co-ordinating Minister of the Economy."

Dr. Ajiboye clarified the issue noting that the earned allowances jointly calculated with FG and ASUU in the 2009 agreement was N87 billion and it covers allowances for three and a half years for thousands of lecturers in Nigerian universities.

He stressed that the N87 billion was a compromise made by ASUU by scaling down from N127 billion to N87 billion.

Consequently, Dr Ajiboye called on Nigerians to join ASUU is saying NO to those whom he said were bent on destroying public institutions, because their children are not in Nigeria.

Open Letter To General Buhari and Bola Tinubu

Posted: 15 Aug 2013 03:38 AM PDT

Dear Sirs, I hope this letter meets you in a good, patriotic spirit. Let me first use this opportunity to join other Nigerians in congratulating you on the registration of the alternative party, the All Progressives Congress. Its registration by INEC was a significant moment for Nigerians.
It, hopefully, signals a new dawn considering that, for once, a truly national opposition party which has been elusive in the Fourth Republic, appears to have emerged to challenge the ruling party in 2015 and beyond.
In many ways too, the merger of the once disparate opposition parties under a unifying bloc represents a milestone in the quest for the enthronement of genuine democracy. That the union has come at a time when this democracy is under imminent threat of annihilation by anti-democratic forces gives Nigerians cause to cheer. Now, they hope that the ruling party will subsequently be held accountable and its excesses curtailed. While also admitting that your union may not be a gathering of saints, it nonetheless, represents a starting point.

It is the recognition of the role of a credible opposition that Nigerians anxiously anticipated the success of the merger. No wonder also that they celebrated its registration. The widespread euphoria is at once a show of gratitude as well as appreciation of your commitment. That you all agreed to dissolve your existing parties to coalesce under a broad-based opposition is the mark of true patriots. The sacrifices your parties have made to bury individual egos and sectional interests may well be what our country needs to move this democracy forward. You will also have to agree with me that Nigerians were initially sceptical when the opposition initiated another merger plan. Do not blame them because the nightmare of past disappointment is still fresh. On three occasions, you let Nigerians down. The most significant was the 2011 merger fiasco. Your failure to unite at the time is the reason why our country in a mess today. Now, the APC optimistically presents us with the opportunity to right the wrongs of the last 14 years.

Of course, Nigerians know that this may not be a perfect union, yet, they hope you may put your house in order to challenge the Peoples Democratic Party's 14 years' misrule. And they are waiting to show the power of their votes in the next elections. They celebrated the APC because they want to trust you. Having been battered, bruised and left in the lurch by this government, they look forward to a new dawn in 2015 and beyond. Nigerians want security of lives and property, regular power supply, good roads, better schools, quality health care, end to ethnic strife, corruption and wasteful government. Can your party deliver? Is the APC the new messiah? Will your party put an end to this vicious circle of poverty and oppression that is synonymous with this government?

That is why both of you stand on the threshold of history.

That is why it is important that you must both realise your place in history. Will you continue to act like true patriots to ensure that the APC becomes a genuine opposition party? Can both of you ditch your personal ambitions for the common good? Nigerians are still worried about the danger your political egos pose to the survival of the new party. Indeed, there is a widely held belief that conflicts arising from clash of egos may yet destroy this union. Knowing that the 2011 merger collapsed for this same reason gives cause for concern. For example, there are already speculations that you, Muhammadu Buhari, will present yourself as candidate again in 2015? While I do not doubt your personal integrity, it is also within your constitutional right to seek election.
But will your candidacy be politically wise in 2015? Rather than fuel speculations about your possible candidacy, I will suggest that your party begins a search for a younger candidate with national appeal. This means that you must accept to ditch your ambitions for the common good. That is the mark of true patriots. The opposition cannot afford to repeat the mistakes of the past. Nigerians have waited for this moment. They yearn for better life in 2015. They hope to be liberated from hunger, poverty and misery that have become their lot with the ruling party. They want to see improvement in their quality of life. They want to remove the horrible stigma of a people living on less than one dollar a day. They also hope that your party will save this country from hurtling down the precipice plotted for it by the ruling party.

The APC can put an end to this circle of impunity in 2015. But the road ahead will not be easy. In the words of the great Tai Solarin, may your road be rough! There are still fundamental issues your party has not resolved. These issues are the heart of putting in place an enduring opposition that will outlive both of you. First, Nigerians want to see an agenda that is different from the PDP. They want to see how you intend to govern. Thus, apart from shopping for credible candidates, your next objective will be to show Nigerians how you intend to govern differently. They do not want business as usual. Even while they cannot wait to kick out the PDP in 2015, they do not want a party that is a clone of the ruling party.

Now you have to figure out how you intend to resolve the ideological differences you brought into this alliance. How does your party intend to rule? How will the APC be different in ideology? Will you continue the looting of our commonwealth? Will you concentrate the wealth into the hands of a few at the expense of the suffering masses? Will you retain this expensive contraption called democracy or will you cut down on the size of government? Our lawmakers are said to be the highest paid globally. How do you intend to deal with a wasteful National Assembly that is a clear burden on the resources of this nation? What is your vision of the economic development that will ensure no Nigerian is left behind? Nigerians hope the APC will not continue this reckless waste of public funds at all levels by the PDP. They are also eager to see how you will address the age-long lopsided federal structure that concentrates too much power at the centre. If your party shows a clear path for nationhood, Nigerians are ready to give you the benefit of the doubt.

The starting point will be to engage Nigerians in a continuous debate about your manifesto. They want to see the APC's road map for the future. They are waiting to be convinced. It is not enough to just assume you want to replace the ruling party. Both of you have shown that you can make a difference. The defunct Action Congress has demonstrated this in the South-West. If the opposition party gets its act together, perhaps, our country will be saved from this gradual descent into a state of anomie. The judgment of history will be more than too harsh if your generation fails to seize this moment.

Photos: North West First Pics Since Birth

Posted: 15 Aug 2013 03:31 AM PDT

From TMZ

Kim Kardashian finally showed her face in public after birthing baby North West -- surfacing at an L.A. medical facility Wednesday -- and giving us a glimpse at her post pregnancy bod ... sorta.

These are the FIRST photos of Kim and Kanye West with their daughter since KK popped back in June, and everyone looks happy and healthy. Hell, even Yeezy was smiling as they walked into the doc's office ... with a nanny-assist, naturally.

No shot of North's face though ... she was fully covered in a car seat.

Mama K was all top secret too -- concealing her figure under a baggy button-down with another shirt tied around her waist and famous cheeks ... for extra coverage.

Hey, Kim knows her body is a cash cow -- and she ain't giving away the milk for free.

Obasanjo Peace Move Crumbles; Jonathan Can't Dictate To Us ––Governors Insist

Posted: 15 Aug 2013 03:24 AM PDT

Things are not the same anymore and the center can no longer hold, Olokunbolablessing.blogspot.Com gathered, as Nigeria's former President, Olusegun Obasanjo's peace moves with the fighting governors is crumbling.

President Goodluck Jonathan's men have suggested that Governors Rotimi Amaechi and Jonah Jang should both step down as factional chairmen of the Nigerian Governors Forum and give way for Isa Yuguda, a man that is known to be loyal to President Jonathan.

But the aggrieved governors have insisted that it is either Amaechi or no one:
Consequently, Obasanjo's trouble-shooting mission has ended in a deadlock as the governors failed to reach any kind of compromise with President Jonathan's men.

Unable to bring peace to the fold of the bickering governors, the second move by the former president to make peace between the governors and President Goodluck Jonathan and his family, it was learnt, has thus been postponed indefinitely.

Meanwhile, Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State has offered reasons why majority of governors in the Nigeria Governors' Forum, NGF, backed Governor Chibuike Amaechi against Jonah Jang in the NGF chairmanship election. He said the governors do not trust Jang to robustly defend their interests.

Amaechi can't step down — Supporters
Central to the abortion of the peace process was the refusal of both Governors Chibuike Amaechi and Jonah Jang to step down from chairmanship of rival factions of the NGF.

Under a proposal that had been canvassed, Amaechi would have called a meeting of the NGF in which all the governors would have attended and at which he would have tendered a public resignation supposedly for peace to return to the forum.

But Amaechi and his supporters resisted the move as they claimed that since he won the election, he should not be the one to step down. Jang who lost the NGF chairmanship election by 16 votes to the 19 votes was equally not ready to step down.

Pro-Amaechi governors are insisting that the result of the election should be respected and that the loser of the election should step down.

One governor who spoke to Vanguard on the condition of anonymity, however, insisted that those of them driving the peace process would not give up until peace returns to the fold of the governors.

Why we don't trust Jang --Governor Nyako
Speaking with State House correspondents after meeting with President Jonathan on Wednesday evening in Abuja, Governor Nyako said somebody who contested and won election should not step down for a man who came second in the election.

According to the governor, though the issue of Amaechi and Jang stepping down came up in the meeting between the governors of the People's Democratic Party and former President Olusegun Obasanjo, no agreement was reached.

"In democracy, when you have an issue you discuss. The election in the Governors' Forum has become an issue. It should not be an issue. When you say 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, even someone who is in elementary school knows which is higher.
If one group got 19 votes (and) the other got 16, in democracy even in the eyes of the people in elementary school, they know that 19 is higher than 16. It should not be turned into controversy.

On whether Jang and Amaechi should step down to allow for a neutral person to be elected, Nyako retorted that it would be inconceivable to urge Amaechi to step down, given that he won the election. He said that the pressure should rather be on Jang as the runner-up to step down.
