Bamangar Tukur Battle for Survival; Begs His Enemies for Help Posted: 19 Aug 2013 01:54 AM PDT In a move to retain his job as the National Chairman of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, has reportedly sought the help of ex-Vice President Abubakar Atiku. But the same Atiku, Olokunbolablessing.blogspot.Com observed, was sidelined by the PDP Chairman who even refused to add his name in the list of PDP delegates. "The chairman is truly embattled. When he got the wind of the plan to remove him as the national chairman of the party, he invited Atiku to his house for consultation. The meeting was aimed at saving his job. "We don't know what the outcome of the meeting was, but as soon as the chairman came out of the meeting, he moved to the Presidential Villa to confer with the President." Anyway, Tukur sent an SOS message to Atiku and the man obliged him a closed door meeting at his Wuse 2 residence in Abuja very late on Saturday. The meeting reportedly started at about 7pm and Atiku was seen leaving the PDP Chairman's residence at about 8.30pm. Both the PDP chairman and the ex-VP are from the same Adamawa State. An aide to Atiku confirmed the meeting of the two on Sunday. "They (Atiku and Tukur) met last night (Saturday)," the aide said. Punch learnt that the PDP chairman asked for Atiku's help in pacifying his opponents to allow him retain his office. Immediately after the meeting with Atiku, Tukur also rushed to the Presidential Villa for a meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan. Tukur was said to have been astonished when he got the directive that he should convey an emergency meeting of the National Working Committee of the party on Monday (today), which in turn would fix the meeting of the National Executive Committee, NEC, of the party for Thursday. The NEC meeting is expected remove him (Tukur) from office.
PDP Or APC; Nigeria Must Progress Posted: 19 Aug 2013 01:47 AM PDT There are various write ups flying in the air, it baffles me when parties are challenging each other unnecessarily just to make one look inferior than the other. Can't we just be matured in our thinking and handle issues appropriately? Adoyi Ali said and I quote in an article titled Why APC will fail: "Nigerians at different quarters have said that they need straight forward leaders who spell it out exactly the way it is. Nigerians need leaders who mean well for the country and definitely not leaders that pick on very flimsy issues as criticisms against its own government." Hmm, we shouldn't be so blind with patriotism and fail to face reality. Wrong is wrong, no matter who does it or says it. PDP and APC members should stop raising songs of abuse to each other; this present government is obviously slow and weak in discharging her duties, we look forward for improvement. Nigerians should go for personality and not party come 2015, we all know that APC is indeed an alternative but here comes a question; hope their individual differences (ACN, CPC, ANPP,) won't expose their weaknesses? Buhari said and I quote in his article, titlled APC will push PDP out of power: "I discovered that by being so divisive, we made ourselves very vulnerable. So, the best way to survive and for this country to stabilise, we just have to come together, and I believe, along the line, we made necessary sacrifices."The duo should use this medium to set their priorities right and put their various houses in order; give Nigerians candidates that are up to the task. We are looking for men who are not for sale, who are honest and sound from centre to circumference, true to heart core. I will like to drop my pen with the words of - Charles W. Pickering~ "A healthy democracy requires a decent society; it requires that we are honourable, generous, tolerant and respectful." By Ayiti Oluwatoyin 08068957752 @oluwa2oyin4pop
My Husband's Brothers Killed Him; Now Sharing His Property ––Widow Chioma Cries Out Posted: 19 Aug 2013 01:44 AM PDT The question we must ask is, what really happened to that young man. Findings indicate that the surgery for which he was taken to India was done successful and he actually returned to Nigeria alive. As a matter of fact, he spoke to his wife, Chioma, on arrival at the airport in Nigeria. Chioma wanted to be in the entourage for the welcome party of her husband at the airport but strangely one of the brothers, Hyacinth Odilinye, allegedly refused. On arrival, Onyebuchi, Chioma's husband walked out of the plane by himself and into the waiting arms of his two brothers. Hyacinth allegedly sent the other brother to go get something for him but before that one could return, Onyebuchi was dead in the car. So, what happened to Odilinye when he was alone with Hyancinth? Anyway, few days after her husband Odilinye was buried Chioma Odilinye was abandoned in the compound in Ogidi, Idemili Local Government Area of Anambra State. Her in-laws have refused to allow her return to Lagos. She dragged her wailing son to the grave of her husband to take this pix as you can see, according to her, for a story she would tell the boy when he eventually grows up, reports My Emag. While imprisoned in this place, her in-laws came to Lagos and were sharing all the properties left behind by their late brother, Chioma's late husband. But after enduring a long flight from India and having been certified medically fit to travel, could Odilinye have died just like that in a car driven by his brother who is now converting the late man's properties? Is there foul play in this whole saga? Was Onyebuchi murdered? Why is Chioma and her 4-year-old son on lock-down in the village? Olokunbolablessing.blogspot.Com is looking into this sad issue, which is common in Nollywood movies but has now happened for real.
BBA The Chase: Angelo's Eviction! Beverly Cries Her Eyes Out Posted: 19 Aug 2013 01:34 AM PDT Beverly's boyfriend, Angelo has been evicted. The moment the live show ended Beverly went straight to her bed and cried her eyes out. But Melvin, the Nigerian other contestant, was there to console her. Here is what he said to her; "You still have me. You will be fine. I will still be here for you. My bed is the biggest in the House. You can share it with me." Lol, i am sure she will be fine soon.
Tope Alabi's Pastor Who Accused Her Of "Bad Things" Is Dead Posted: 19 Aug 2013 01:23 AM PDT This life is just too short. Today you are everywhere; talking, playing, crying, laughing, dancing, eating and all sorts of activities...which make people get carried away, Olokunbolablessing.blogspot.Com observed. But within a twinkle of an eye everything just become history. Really sad! This best encapsulate the case of popular Lagos prophet, Pastor Ireti Ajanaku of Christ Revival Church who died in his village few days after celebrating his 10th wedding anniversary.
Law Graduates Earn As Low As 15K Monthly Salary In Nigeria Posted: 19 Aug 2013 01:14 AM PDT Many young lawyers in Nigeria today are being exploited by their employers, who are mostly senior lawyers. The story of these people who study for about six years for a Degree in Law is very pathetic. "I was earning a monthly salary of N5,000 during my NYSC service year. I was being paid N10,000 monthly at my second law firm and N20,000 at both my third and fourth law firms. "Currently, I am not on any salary. The job in those firms were so demanding. I was working without stop, usually from 8am to 7pm or occasionally longer hours from Monday to Saturday!"Rachael [name withheld], obtained her first law degree from the University of Ilorin and was called to the bar in 2008. Now she just realised that she missed the point thinking that her venture for a further study abroad would give her a better life as a young lawyer in Nigeria. With her master's degree (Merit) which she got from the University College, London in the United Kingdom in 2011, what she met on the ground was a far cry from her expectations in the three firms she had worked in. The 28-year old lady, who practices in law firm in Lagos, was earning a total of N50,000 during her NYSC but was paid just N30,000 with her Master's Degree as a full staff after NYSC. She is lucky to be earning "above N100,000" at her current firm in Lagos. She said, "When I returned from my master's programme in the U.K sometime in 2011, I worked with a law firm where I was paid the sum of N30,000 as my salary for a month. I discovered that in a month, I spent about N60,000 on my running cost (feeding and transport to work). Though I was paid stipends every month, I had to remind my principal about my salary every month end before he issued my cheque. I was so disgusted about the manner the firm was run that I barely spent two months in the law firm. "As a corps member in 2009, I was paid N50,000, while in 2011 (after I had obtained a master's degree), I was paid N30,000." Peter David (real name withheld), who graduated from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and called to the Nigerian Bar in 2008, has worked in four law firms. His first was in Ilorin which he joined during his national youth service. He said his subsequent movement to other firms in Ilorin and later to another in Ibadan was out of the frustration he experienced at those firms. David, who is now in Ibadan, is not on salary at a firm to which he attached himself so as to have access to law materials and other resources at the firm. Adebayo Olatunde (real name withheld) described his 4 years experience at his former firms as "exploitative practices". Olatunde, whose previous and current firms are in Lagos, was called to the bar in 2008 and has since then worked in three firms. After past "bizarre" experience at the previous firms, he considers himself lucky to have joined his current firm where he was able to buy a car worth N1.2m within one year. Olatunde said, "In the second firm, where I worked about four years ago, I witnessed some of the most bizzare and exploitative practices. The office was located somewhere in Ikeja, Lagos, while the sole owner and principal was well above 20years at the bar at the time. We, the young lawyers, worked Mondays to Saturdays and the usual practice was to close at night – usually between 8pm and 9pm. "I got tired and decided to leave after the initial four months. My then principal grudgingly increased my pay to N50,000. No transport allowances as usual and not a single incentive – nothing whatsoever. It meant virtually every lawyer in the firm, except the principal, spent their exploitative incomes on transportation to the office and absolutely nothing was left to cater for even basic life outside the office." Olatunde also lamented the fate of his female colleagues at his former firm, whose conditions, he said were worse than his. He said, "The working conditions were even worse for the ladies among us then. I recall one lady was coming from Ikorodu to Ikeja everyday but she was being paid the same bizzare sum of N20,000 – and nothing more. No incentive whatsoever was given to her and no regard was ever had for her daily hardships which made her spend her entire paltry income to daily transport herself from Ikorodu to Ikeja. "Another lady usually came to Ikeja from Ikotun while one even had a master's degree from the United Kingdom. The three ladies were horribly renumerated despite their excessive work schedules. In summary, it was a horrible situation and I do not know of any lawyer that didn't leave the office in protest against the exploitative practices there." Fred Bamidele (real name withheld), who was only called to the bar in 2009, vowed to remain on his own, after years of "grievous underpayments by my superiors". He said, "The first firm I worked for didn't really place me on salary but I worked for eight months there. Though I was already called to bar, he never gave me salary and the only time he gave me money was during Christmas time in 2009 and what he gave me was N10,000 and never again did he give me anything. I would resume work at 7am and closed around 9pm or even 10pm. "I got the last firm in October 2011 and the principal offered me N15,000 but I rejected it. He then increased it to N20,000 which I still rejected. So he begged me but because he was desperate for a junior , he begged me and said that he was willing to pay N25,000. I took it because I didn't want to stay at home anymore. He increased the salary to N30,000 in March 2012 and to N40,000 around September 2012 when I demanded for an increment. Arround January 2013 he increased it to N50,000 which could not cater for my transportation and feeding for one month. "In March 2013, I left the firm to to start my own practice." As the Nigerian lawyers gather in Calabar, the Cross Rivers State capital, for this year's edition of annual conference, which starts on August 25, many of the juniors continue to groan under the alleged exploitations by their superiors. President of Nigerian Bar Association, Mr. Okey Wali, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, could not be reached to respond to the issue. He neither answered telephone calls nor responded to SMS sent to his phone. By Punch's Ade Adesomoju
Beverly Osu Gets Melvin's Invitation To Come Sleep With Him Posted: 19 Aug 2013 01:05 AM PDT The love tempo in the Big Brother Africa house is bound to change drastically, Olokunbolablessing.blogspot.Com observed, as Beverly Osu's in-house lover, Angelo, has been evicted from the reality show. Angelo's eviction happened on Sunday and Beverly cried out her eyes. While she was sobbing, Melvin who is Naija's second representatives but always quiet in the BBA house, went to Beverly Osu's bed to console her and gave her a sweet message. Below is what he told her: "You still have me. You will be fine. I will still be here for you. My bed is the biggest in the House. You can share it with me."Since Angelo will be going back to South Africa to be with his real girlfriend, do not be surprise if tomorrow you see Beverly in the hands of this cute guy, Melvin. It seems she really need a man. *laughs*
A 17-year-old secondary school girl Beheaded In The Home Town Of Abia state Governor. Posted: 18 Aug 2013 11:16 AM PDT
Chioma, a student of Girls' Secondary School, Umuahia, otherwise known as Holy Rosary secondary school, was sent by her mother to go to the farm and fetch vegetable, which the family would use for their evening meal when she was attacked and beheaded. Her headless body was found at a spot, where her killers covered her with palm leaves and her head, which was completely severed from the body, was lying beside the body as her blood formed a pool on the leaves.
