Teenager discovers she is still pregant - three months after she took abortion pill. Now she'll keep the baby

Posted: 31 Dec 2013 06:50 AM PST

A teenage mother who had an abortion was shocked to discover she was still pregnant three months later.
Shannon Skinner, 19, had the abortion when she was eight weeks pregnant, having decided it was too soon to have a second child.
But in a rare occurrence, the procedure failed and she continued having morning sickness and feeling movements in her womb.
Shannon Skinner, 19, had an abortion when she was eight weeks pregnant after she, and partner Anthony, decided it was too soon to have a second child - they also have a nine-month-old baby
Doctors told her they were side effects of the abortion, but after three months Ms Skinner and partner Anthony Hunt, 24, convinced medics to take them seriously.
Tests revealed the mother-of-one was pregnant - and her baby daughter had miraculously survived the induced miscarriage.

Scans have since shown that her baby looks physically fine and she is due to be born on May 7.

WHAT IS A MEDICAL ABORTION?

Medical abortion is available to women within the first nine weeks of pregnancy.
It involves taking two sets of pills over two visits to a clinic.
The woman usually experiences discomfort and heavy bleeding after taking the pills.
This normally lasts for a few days until the pregnancy has passed.
The abortion starts within four to five hours of taking the second set of tablets and is usually completed within one to two days.
Some women are not able to have a medical abortion, including those who are over 35 and smoke heavily, those who have a suspected ectopic pregnancy and those with heart disease.
Medical abortions fail to work in about two to three per cent of cases.
A spokeswoman for the British Pregnancy Advisory Service told MailOnline: 'There is a small risk of your pregnancy continuing with early medical abortion.
'Good follow-up care is important, and any symptoms of ongoing pregnancy should be investigated.
'The medication used has been associated with an increased risk of birth defects but that does not mean women in this rare situation cannot go on to have a healthy baby, and scans should provide reassurance.'

Ms Skinner, who also has a nine-month-old daughter, Lacie, with Mr Hunt, said: 'We thought she had gone.
'I had grieved for that baby and we'd just managed to get our heads around it.
'Anthony and I felt like we'd made the right decision because we were having problems and we didn't think it was right to bring a baby into that.
'I'd always been one of those people that was against abortions and hated them but I was suffering with post-natal depression.
'Lacie was just four months old at the time, so I had to do what I thought was best.
'But it was not an easy decision and I regretted it straight away after it and even at the time didn't know if I was doing the right thing.'
Ms Skinner, from Bristol, went for a medical abortion - which involves taking a series of tablets - on September 20.
But she returned to her GP after weeks of feeling unwell and she was given a pregnancy test to do at home - it was positive.
When she returned to her doctor another test was negative and she remained unaware she was carrying a baby until December 20 when a third test revealed she was pregnant.
She was told she must have become pregnant again after the abortion, even though she had had a contraceptive implant fitted.
But further tests revealed her baby had survived the abortion.
The couple have been told that survival after a medical abortion occurs in just three per cent of cases.
They are still inside the legal 24-week termination limit but the couple say their baby girl is now too old and has been put through too much.
Ms Skinner, a stay-at-home mother, said: 'We've now decided to keep the baby, as we don't feel it's right to have an abortion at this stage.
'She's obviously a little fighter, and we don't want to cause her any more harm.
After the abortion, Ms Skinner continued to suffer morning sickness and to feel movements in her womb. She has just been told she is five months pregnant and that the abortion failed to work
'When I had the abortion it didn't feel the same as it does now - we have seen her and her heartbeat.'
Ms Skinner had her latest scan last week where midwives confirmed her baby daughter looked physically fine - but could not rule out future complications.
She said: 'Everything is OK at the moment, everything is the way it should be.
'But the consultant couldn't promise it will stay like that when she is older, with her functioning skills.
'There is nothing to say everything will be hunky-dory, there's no guarantee how it's going to go.'
A midwife at St Michael's Hospital, Bristol, where Ms Skinner is receiving check-ups, is investigating what happened and the couple have complained to Marie Stopes International who carried out the failed abortion.
Ms Skinner and Mr Hunt have now decided to keep the baby. It is not believed that she has suffered any ill effects as a result of the abortion drugs
A spokesperson for the family planning organisation said: 'Very occasionally, the medical abortion pill can fail.
'We discuss this with any woman considering the treatment and advise on the necessary follow-up to monitor for a failure, so further treatment may be sought if needed.
'Cases like this are few and far between but of course that does not make the situation any the less upsetting.'

Chinese doctor admits she stole children and sold them to human traffickers after telling parents their newborns were ill.

A Chinese doctor has admitted stealing children and selling them to human traffickers.
The shocking admission was heard in a court where she told how she took the infants from the hospital she worked at after telling parents the children had problems.
Zhang Shuxia, a locally respected and soon-to-retire obstetrician, stood trial on Monday in northern Shaanxi province's Fuping county, according to online postings from the court.
Trafficking: Zhang Shuxia, who is involved in a baby trafficking scandal, stands trial
Doctor: Zhang was a doctor with the Fuping County Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital
Zhang told parents their newborns had congenital problems and persuaded them to 'sign and give the babies up,' the court postings said.
Calls to the Weinan Intermediate People's Court and the local Communist Party propaganda department went unanswered.
The case exposed the operations of a baby trafficking ring that operated across several provinces centering on Zhang, who delivered babies at the Fuping County Maternal and Child Hospital.

Child trafficking is a big problem in China, despite severe legal punishments that include the death penalty. Families who buy trafficked children are driven partly by the traditional preference for male heirs, a strict one-child policy and ignorance of the law.
The indictment said that from November 2011 to July 2013, she sold seven babies to middlemen who sold the babies to 'couples' in central and eastern China. Six of the babies were rescued, but one that was trafficked for 1,000 yuan ($165) in April later died.
Zhang was found out when a mother suspected her baby had been abducted and reported her to police in July. The official Xinhua News Agency reported that Zhang had taken the baby home with her and sold him to a man in a neighboring province for 21,600 yuan ($3,600) the same night.
He in turn resold the baby to a villager in central China for 59,800 yuan ($9,900). Several other suspects have been detained in at least four provinces, Xinhua said.
The case has added to public frustration with China's medical profession over rampant bribery and other abuses.
The Beijing Times newspaper called for a 'fair punishment' for Zhang to deter other doctors.
'It will inject the authoritativeness of law into professional ethics of doctors and will warn doctors not to take the wrong step that brings them lifelong regret,' the paper said.

The Nigerian military said yesterday that it launched ground and air operations over the weekend on locations used by terrorists in the Alafa forests, 21 kilometers from Bama, Borno State.

In a statement released Monday by the Director of Defense Information, Major General Chris Olukolade, the military disclosed that at least 56 terrorists lost their lives in an intense exchange of gunfire.
The statement added that two soldiers were wounded in the operation which was meant to track fleeing terrorists.
Major Olukolade the military had acted on intelligence which indicated that the terrorists were making renewed efforts to establish a new camp in the forest locations.
The land and air operations inflicted heavy casualties on the insurgents who reportedly lost both men and material.
According to the statement, "Air and land bombardments are continuing in different locations where terrorists have been reportedly sighted."

In a separate development, troops of the multi-national Joint Task Force reportedly foiled an attempt by terrorists to carry out an attack on some Nigerian communities.
A military source said that the terrorists were massing up on an island on Lake Chad in order to stage an attack. He said the military's preemptive strike disrupted the terrorists' plot.
He added that seven of the terrorists died, with troops still in pursuit of their number fleeing in different direction towards Niger and Chad Republics.
The military source said some of the wounded terrorists were seen in a canoe paddling towards Tumbun Telkandam in Chad.

A kebab shop owner has been ordered to pay £2,000 compensation after selling a pizza with a bolt embedded in the crust.
Mehmet Gilgil, 25, pleaded guilty to selling food not of the 'substance or quality required' after an inch-long lump of metal was found baked into a pizza at Flames Kebabs in Romford, East London.
The bolt is believed to have come loose inside the oven and fallen into the pizza as it cooked.

Mr Gilgil was fined £1,000 and ordered to pay £750 in costs and a £100 victim surcharge for serving the pizza to an unsuspecting customer in December 2012.
Romford council's cabinet member for Public Protection, Councillor Lesley Kelly said: 'Selling shoddy products of any kind is not acceptable and is particularly important when preparing food.'

Mr Kelly added: 'We will always prosecute and seek the highest possible fine to make sure that everyone maintains standards in their kitchens.'

There have been a number of incidents of foreign objects found in food in recent months.
In November a plumber claimed he had been left unable to eat anything after discovering a dead mouse inside a bag of Tesco frozen scampi.
Mohammed Ali, 37, said he could only stomach fruit juice after finding the dead rodent inside his packet of seafood.
He had poured the contents into a deep fat fryer for an afternoon snack, but then a couple of minutes later noticed something black floating in the hot oil.

Earlier this year Tony Hinds, 27, found a human tooth embedded in a pork and chive sausage from Tesco's Finest range.
Mr Hinds, from Queenborough in Kent, had planned to use them to make sausage rolls for his birthday party, but abandoned the plans when his fiancée removed the packaging and found the tooth stuck in the side of a sausage.

Shock: Earlier this year Tony Hinds found a human tooth embedded in a pork and chive sausage from Tesco's Finest range. The supermarket initially offered only a £15 voucher as compensation
And only last weekend, a Pret A Manger customer in Manhattan, New York was shocked to discover a dead frog in her salad.
The Wall Street Journal employee had visited the branch on Sixth Avenue/47 Street to get what she assumed would be a regular Albacore Tuna Nicoise Salad.
But in addition to the tomatoes, tuna, egg and olives, there was an extra ingredient: the small amphibian, almost camouflaged among the salad leaves.
The manager of the branch has since apologised and given the customer a refund, plus a voucher for a free lunch.
The heavy fine kebab shop owner Mr Gilgil received for serving the bolt in his pizza is in stark contrast to the compensation Tesco offered Mr Hinds.
Tesco initially offered only an apology and a £15 voucher for what it insisted was a piece of bone.

Finally, after Mr Hinds protested further, the supermarket acknowledged that the unwelcome discovery was a tooth and added another £10.
A Tesco spokesman said: 'We are sorry for any upset. However, after a thorough investigation, we are confident the tooth was not inside the product when it arrived at the store.'
They added: 'All products undergo robust testing during the manufacturing process, including metal detection. The object in question is part metal and, during supplier tests, it was easily picked up by the metal detector.'

Shame, Shame, Shame: Sinitta flies to Barbados first class while her two children are left in ECONOMY seats

    Posted: 31 Dec 2013 06:18 AM PST

She might have sung about Hitchin' A Ride back in the 1990s, but Sinitta rarely travels anything but first class – with or without her childreneight-year-old Magdalena and seven-year-old Zac.
The star, who also famously sang Shame, Shame, Shame, clearly felt none as she revealed on Twitter that while her two young children flew economy to Barbados for their winter break - she turned left to enjoy the eight hour flight in first class on the same plane.
On a photograph of the cute pair, tweeted by mum Sinitta she wrote: '"Why did mama turn left and we turn right?" - "Cause Mama sitting with Santa, don't complain!" Oops!'

The phrase 'turning left' relates to the section of an aeroplane where first class is situated, if you turn right you are, generally, in economy class.
A close family friend, Jason Gale, told MailOnline he travelled with the family but while Sinitta holed up in first class he sat with Magdalena and Zac keeping them company during the flight.
He explained: 'We were very late booking our flights over to Barbados and could not get 4 seats together in any class on that day, so we got what tickets we could.'
As the singer wasn't feeling very well, Jason let her take the one first class seat they could purchase while he sat in economy with her two children.
He said: 'I decided that I want to travel with the Children and let Sinitta take the seat in first class.'
Sinitta adopted eight-year-old Magdalena and seven-year-old Zac just before Christmas five years ago with her ex-husband Andy Willner.
The So Macho singer has been seen spending time with her young family playing in the surf together.

It may have been raining in Barbados on Thursday, but that didn't stop the singer and reality star making the most of the local beach.
The star took her two children, Magdalena and Zac, as well as male companion, publicist Jason Gale to play in the surf and the foursome looked like they were having a whale of a time.
Sinitta is currently holidaying with her former boyfriend Simon Cowell and his pregnant girlfriend, Lauren Silverman.
Hitting the surf: The 50-year-old looked like she was having a blast as she played with Magdalena and Zac in the water as Jason looked on earlier in the week
She looked effortlessly chic in a wide-brimmed straw hat and a mustard-coloured mini-dress which got completely soaked as she jumped through the waves.
The '80s star didn't seem to mind one bit though as she enjoyed some quality time with her little ones.
On Wednesday, the 49-year-old Tweeted: 'Merry Christmas everyone, wherever you are!! Awake since 6am with the Shorties, who were so excited!! Sandcastle competition next door next!'

No doubt she's relishing the time with her children as Sinitta's been working in Austria recently where she's been in training for new reality show, The Jump.
In the programme, the celebrity contestants will be put through their paces as they learn various winter sports including bobsleighing, speed-skating and more.
Reality star, Amy Childs, TV presenter Melinda Messenger, former Pussycat Doll, Kimberly Wyatt and hairdresser Nicky Clarke are also said to be taking part in the gruelling programme.

Sinitta has holidayed with Simon many times over the past few years, but she maintains their relationship is nothing but platonic.
In October, Sinitta hit back at the 'harem' tag that is often applied to her and the rest of the music mogul's close circle of confidantes.
She explained in an interview with The Sun that her relationship with the music mogul is simply friendship and said they would rather play board games than have sex.
Hot to trot: The So Macho thought nothing of having a little jog on the beach
Time to relax: Sinitta is also holidaying with Simon Cowell, who has been making the most of his annual Caribbean break with the leading ladies in his life
Cool customer: The television mogul looked content with life as he left his hotel alongside a security guard for a spot of jet-skiing on Friday

She added: 'We're not all sleeping with him. It's as bad as calling us his b*****s. The girls are all there with partners or as friends.'
Her openness came just days after she made the explosive claim that she and Cowell aborted a child they were expecting together in the 80s.
She explained it was something they mutually decided when they were 'both young'.

Genevieve Nnaji Finally Moves Into D'Banj's House In Lekki

"Yes it's true. You know that Dbanj love Genny very much and he didn't send her away before but she left on her own and when she pleaded with him to come back, he just have to forgive her. He has taken her back and she is very happy!"
Those are the words of a close source in D'banj's camp who confirmed the story to Olokunbolablessing.blogspot.Com that the two are back. Genevieve needed a man in her life and to end 2013 without one would have been sad.

Sources are alleging that the love birds are already talking marriage but the source told me that such may not be true. He said D'banj has already told her that their relationship should be free of pressure...

I think Genny should just be happy that at least she now has a man and allow things to take their due course in order not to drive D'banj away again, because most single successful guys do not like to be rushed. lol!

Whatever the case may be, I wish them a better 2014 in their love life.

Pastor and His 6 Children Kidnapped In Lagos

      Posted: 31 Dec 2013 06:09 AM PST

A 27-man deadly kidnapping gang on Friday abducted a pastor, Godson Akubiro, and six of his children from their Adeosun Street residence, Koya Estate, Igbo Olomu, Ikorodu, Lagos State. Pastor Akubiro is said to be the founder of Mountain of Breakthrough Church in the area.

The area Community Developmen Association Chairman, Mr. Yinka Obasan, said:
"I got a call that night from a resident who was coming from a vigil. He told me that he noticed some military vehicles parked outside Akubiro's home. He said the vehicles belonged to a high ranking military official because the insignia was covered...
"I told the man to wait for me and together we went to Akubiro's home. When we got there, I greeted the men I met outside and introduced myself as the CDA chairman. I asked them if there was a problem. Instead of answering me, they turned on my companion and accused him of alerting me.

"After berating both of us for not minding our business, they forced us to sit on the ground and seized our phones. There was another resident sitting on the ground; they had detained him since 12am when they arrived. Then they started beating us."

The incident was said to have occurred about 1.30am.

Neighbours, who requested anonymity, told PUNCH that the gunmen arrived at Akubiro residence in three jeeps and a Toyota Tundra vehicle. The number plates of the vehicles were said to have been covered. The gunmen, who wore army camouflage, allegedly gained entrance into the house with the aid of an iron cutter.

It was learnt that since the abduction, no one had heard from Pastor Akubiro and his six children.

One of them, an eight-year-old named Emeka, was allegedly tied to a tree in the compound. No reason was allegedly given by the gunmen for their actions.

Another 18-year-old boy named Obiora was said to have been tortured with a taser. Akubiro's wife, Rita, was said to be away on a trip to South Africa at the time.

It was learnt that the gunmen later took Akubiro away along with Ada, his first daughter, Obiora, Oyinyenchi, Felicia, Nonso and Kingsley. Three person were allegedly left behind – Emeka, Chidera and a baby.

Immediately the gunmen left, a report was lodged at the Owutu Police Division. However, the DPO was said to have denied that the gunmen were policemen.

PUNCH learnt that since the incident, no one had been able to establish contact with Pastor Akubiro and his children. His wife Rita, who returned from South Africa the following day, was said to have received no calls concerning their whereabouts.

Now this is very scary....a pastor for that matter!

That's me! Tattoo artist stunned to find photo of HIMSELF on 'satanic' H&M shirt

A tattoo artist was stunned to discover his picture on the front of a T-shirt being sold worldwide by high street chain H&M, without his knowledge.
Richard Elsby, known as Gold Frank, felt angry and cheated when he found out the white tops, bearing his image and the words 'Black runs through my veins', were on sale in stores all over the world.
The 36-year-old's plight drew comparisons with the recent high-profile Rihanna case, when the singer successfully sued Topshop for using her image on a T-shirt.

Musician Gold Frank said he had pictures taken in June, 2012, for the website for his new studio in Leeds city centre.
They were on the website the next month, and he heard about the T-shirts appearing in H&M in August this year.
After doing a bit of searching he found out that the images had gone on sale at the retail chain in May this year.

'I haven't pursued anything yet legally. I need to find out whether it was sold in the right way,' said Gold Frank.

'I feel peeved and cheated especially as there are other brands I have turned down for this type of thing.
'I've never had an apology from anyone about this and I've not seen a penny from any of the sales,' said the hip-hop artist.
Gold Frank said he would like this incident to make the UK public aware that they don't own the copyright to their own image, something he finds 'absolutely insane'
The photographer was Julian Holtom of JH Media in Mirfield, West Yorks.
He said he did take pictures of the tattoo studio for free and did not sign over copyright of his images.
Julian said: 'Under UK copyright law I can do as I wish with the images, and I own the copyright.
'I don't want to say anything else.'

Photographs of you: What the law says

Essentially the law says that whoever took the photograph owns the copyright to it and can do with it as they wish.
This applies whether it is a friend, a professional photographer or a stranger on the street.
The subject of a photograph may occasionally have moral right to limit its distribution if they don't want it published, or picture is embarrassing or sensitive in nature, but not always.
The subject with moral rights can limit publication regardless of whether it's sensitive, but it is not guaranteed.
The only way to ensure a photo of you doesn't end up anywhere you don't approve of is to buy the copyright off the photographer... or take every picture yourself.

The magazine said he was picked because of his humility and his simple manner of dressing, which has 'signaled a new era and for many, renewed hope for the Catholic Church'

Wives routinely spy on their husbands - but only 40% of women would end marriage if they uncovered infidelity

Would you leave your other half if you discovered they had been kissing others under the mistletoe?
While we may assume that anyone who caught their partner cheating would give them the boot, new research shows this not to be the case.
Startlingly more than six in ten married women admit that even if they did catch their love playing away they wouldn't leave them, the Times reports.

Some 36 per cent of women and 24 per cent of men polled believe their partner has cheated. And they seem determined to catch them in the act.

A survey by law firm Slater & Gordon shows that one in ten women have called their man's office to check he is there when he says he will be.

A man glassed by X Factor wannabe Lucie Slater has vowed to make it as a swimming coach once again after he was forced to temporarily give up his career.
Scott Aitken, 27, needed 30 stitches and two hours of surgery after he was attacked by Ms Slater in June last year.
The attack damaged two nerves, cut an artery and forced him to give up work as a swimming teacher.
Scott Aitken, 27, was attacked by Lucie Slater (right) in June 2012 and was left with serious facial injuries which forced him to give up work as a swimming coach
But the club DJ, of Ashington, Northumberland, has now returned to teaching the sport.
On the night of the attack, Mr Aitken had been for a night out in Newcastle with Ms Slater before they returned to his home.
The former girlband member, who was thrown off X Factor for her crime, struck out when she allegedly discovered a message from another girl on Mr Aitken's Facebook page.

Ms Slater, of Ryton, Gateshead, pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding and was given 51 weeks in prison, suspended for two years, with supervision and 120 hours of unpaid work.
Mr Aitken, who once swam for Great Britain, gave his former business 121 Making Waves swim school in Morpeth, Northumberland, to his partner following the attack.
After the attack, Mr Aitken required 30 stitches and two hours of surgery. He suffered damage to his nerves and a severed artery

However, he is now teaching lessons again in Newcastle. 'It's going really well,' said Mr Aitken, a former model.
'I'm back to my normal self and I'm doing what I'm good at as opposed to doing nothing all day. It's really rewarding knowing that I'm making changes to people's lives.'
Mr Aitken teaches classes six days a week for all abilities and has also appointed his brother Ross, 21, to join his team.

The budget proposal, obtained by OLOKUNBOLABLESSING.NEWS, shows that Oduah will spend N250 million on eight operational vehicles for the Accident Investigation Bureau, AIB, and another N500 million to buy some trucks for the agency. She will also spend another N50 million on staff buses at the Ministry of Aviation.
The budget proposal shows that the Ministry of Aviation will spend over N137 million on foreign trips.
Oduah will also spend N100 million on her controversial Aerotropolis Consultants, the city-airports she claims Nigeria desperately needs.
She will then spend another N20 million on other types of consultancies and another N425 million on consultancy of institutional reforms, legal services and commercial.

General consulting and professional services for the Nigerian Meteorological Agency will gulp over N8 million.
On airport internal access roads, Oduah would spend N200 million and another N100 million on Bilateral Air Services Agreements. She will also spend N100 million on security gateways on express roads.
The budget proposal shows that Oduah will also spend N100 million on airport toll gates and another N100 million to paint and repair runways.
Oduah will also equally N820 million on the maintenance agreement for the TRACON support services.
The Ministry of Aviation will spend over N13 million on refreshment and meals and another N9 on publicity.
In all the ministry has earmarked N26 billion for capital expenditure and over N6 billion for recurrent expenditure. The total budget of the ministry is N32.3 billion.

Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly, western Nigeria could not hide their confusion and disappointment on Monday evening when the House could not pass the 2014 as expected because the House Committee on Economic Planning and Budget handed to the House an incomplete report.
The bill was scheduled for passage by the House after the committee chairman, Mudashiru Obasa, last week laid the report of his committee containing the approved budget for the year, other explanations and details to the House in preparation for a presentation before the Committee of the Whole, in this case referred to as the Committee on Supply.
The lawmakers had all gathered for the day's sitting on Monday and had resorted to the Committee on Supply when a member of the House, Suru Avoseh, raised an observation complaining that copies of the report were not available to the members.

On enquiry by Speaker Adeyemi Ikuforiji, Obasa informed the House that the report was not complete as 10 government ministries, departments and agencies refused to present some required documents to aid the preparation of the report and passage of the budget estimate.
His explanation jolted his colleagues many of whom felt disappointed as they had waited patiently for the late commencement of sitting with the hope that the budget would be passed.
Obasa listed the defaulting ministries, departments and agencies as the ministries of Housing, Works and Infrastructure, Transportation and Economic Planning and Budget.
Others are the Eko Secondary Project which has existed for four years but has never appeared before the House, the state Building Control Agency, the state Registration Agency, the Lagos Waste Management Agency, LAWMA, the Lottery Board and the Lagos Metropolitan Development and Governance Project, LMDGP.
The committee chairman said the affected government ministries and agencies actually appeared before the House and were asked to present the documents, but that up till the sitting period, the committee had not received any of the documents. He further said he had laid the report hoping that before the presentation, the documents would get to the House.
He said the committee had written to the affected government institutions, yet there had been no favourable response.
An infuriated Speaker Ikuforiji questioned why Obasa did not inform the House earlier that the committee was not prepared adding that he had raised "our blood pressure up."

Adefunmilayo Tejuosho representing Mushin Constituency 1 queried the committee for laying a report considered incomplete.
Sanai Agunbiade representing Ikorodu Constituency 1 complained that Obasa had misled the members into believing that House was set to pass the Appropriation bill.
Ipoola Omisore, who represents Ifako/Ijaiye Constituency 2 said it was actually the design of the House to pass the bill at the plenary session for the development of the state in 2014, but lamented that the effort of the House had been thwarted by the government ministries and agencies.
He urged the House to "frown" at the agencies for their unserious attitude as portrayed in their refusal to present the documents.
Speaker Ikuforiji, later disclosed that the House would have proceeded on recess after passing the bill but added that this was no longer possible as member must wait for the bill to be passed before embarking on such recess.
"If there are agencies delaying the passage of the budget, we can give some few days and ask the Clerk to write them to supply the documents within the next three days.
"Between now and Thursday, all the MDAs concerned must send the requested documents to the Budget Committee," Ikuforiji said adding that the development was "annoying."
While the Deputy Whip of the House, Rotimi Abiru and Tejuosho opposed the Thursday date for the submission of the documents arguing that the time was too short considering the holiday for Wednesday as a result of the New Year celebration, Omowunmi Olatunji-Edet, Mufutau Egberongbe, the Whip of the House, Abdulrazaq Balogun as well as Speaker Ikuforiji maintained that the date should not be changed.
According to Balogun, "some of these MDAs take this thing with levity. They don't think it is a serious issue and they deliberately withhold some of these documents."
The Speaker then mandated that the Clerk of the House, Segun Abiru, to write the affected government establishment asking them to submit the documents by close of work on Thursday.
Some lawmakers who spoke to P.M. NEWS over the incident lamented the rush with which the committee attempted to make the House pass the budget.
They also disclosed that the budget would not be passed until next week since the House does not sit on Friday and the committee must be given time to study the documents and review the report.

Things A Lady Shouldn’t Do In The Presence Of A Man

          courtcaoon2• Farting In Our Presence
Men hate this to the core, they may pretend not to but they really hate when you do it in their presence. If you doubt me, go and ask a man whom you don't know to tell you what he thinks of a lady who fart or always fart in front of him.
          • Eating too much
Whenever you Ladies are in our Presence please try to control your eating habits. Not that we're too broke to buy you Food but eating without Class just because your indoors is disgusting to say the least!

          • Washing of your undies (panties)
Please try to reduce the amount of times you wash your undies in our presence. Forget that popular slang which tends to say that when a man loves you, he can even wash your undies, we're not that cool with seeing someone else's undies!
          • Talking too dirty
Please, have control of things you say in our presence. Don't be too naughty when it comes to your language except you want to remain a GIRLFRIEND FOR LIFE!!!!!
          • Laughing excessively
Control the length you laugh in front of us. When we're not around, you can laugh and bring down the roof if you wish. I was talking to a lady and she laughed so loud that she didn't know when she polluted.
          • Always watching movies
If your a Nollywood addict please, for the sake of not receiving any RED CARD, stop giving all your time to once your man is around. We need total concentration when we are talking to you
          • Fighting
Never you fight in front of your man, he may feel that one day you will fight his mother.
          • i Too Know attitude
Its very annoying when you always act like you know everything. When we argue about sports, romance, friends etc its cool for you to let us win sometimes as it would do you no harm than try to make sure you POV is the most correct even when its not.

Why I Sliced My Husband’s Man-Hood With Knife -Banker Explains

          Posted: 31 Dec 2013 03:46 AM PST

31-year-old pregnant banker who was arrested by the lagos state police command for cutting her 34-year-old husband's man-hood  during a fight at their home in Surulere has explained why she did it.
          bimbo_danju
"Please, kindly judge this by yourself. As a pregnant woman, will I willingly attempt to cut off my husband's man-hood? I ordinarily would not have said anything. I did not realise this will escalate to this stage. The case is being handled by my lawyer at the moment.
"My husband is not a hot-tempered man but he gets angry once in a while. He lied that he washes my clothes. He only did that once or twice when I was ill. We had a disagreement that day and he beat me up. My mother came to the house and took away our son.

"Without telling anybody, I went to my hospital and was treated. I did not tell him. But when I got home, he continued to harass me. He said I must ensure his son was returned to the house.
"I was so tired and I went to sleep. But in the middle of the night, he woke me up and asked me again to produce his son. We started fighting and he was beating me. In order to escape his beating, I had to hold his man-hood. I wanted him to leave me alone. I held on to it until I had a chance to escape."
"Please ask him, which certificate is he even talking about? When I married my husband, he told me he graduated from the Ogun State University, Ago-Iwoye, but that he had an accident some time ago, in which his certificates were burnt," she said.

"When I married him, he did not have a job. He said he was working on a CD and all the money I made, I spent on him."
Her husband however told a different story.
He said, "My pastor had advised me against marrying her because of an encounter he had with her. Before we got married, in a meeting with Bimbo, my pastor said he asked her about her past and my wife said, 'How dare you!'

"Of course, I did not believe my pastor at the time because I was in love. But now, I rue the day I met that woman."
Lekan alleged that his wife had been behaving strangely since he lost his job. He stated that he had done everything he could to ensure that she remained happy.
"I wash her clothes including her underwear. Even without a job, I ensure that the proceeds of my gospel music CD are used to take care of her and our son," he said.
The apartment Lekan shared with his wife is a mini-flat. Asked who paid for the apartment, the man said the house belonged to his father.
According to him, he was living in a rented apartment in Ikorodu before relocating to his father's house in Surulere so that it would be easier for his wife to get to work.
Lekan explained that Bimbo was a good woman at the time.
He said, "I married her legally. We did a church wedding, went to court and did the traditional wedding. But when I lost my job, I realised that after a little disagreement, she  would rain abuses on me and my family.

"She would sometimes destroy things in the house. There was a time we had a disagreement and she chased me down the street with a stick. During another disagreement, she took my HND certificate to the end of the street and dropped it beside a gate. Neighbours had to plead with her to bring it back."
He narrated to Saturday PUNCH how his wife attacked him.

"That fateful day, I was washing my wife's clothes. She reminded me that she needed some money for foodstuffs and I told her that God would provide for us. Later, she came out of the house and said she had eaten noodles and had fed our son.

"When I finished with the clothes, I was so tired because the clothes were many. I ate the leftover of her noodles. There were about three-spoonfuls left."
Lekan alleged that that did not go down well with his wife who said she still wanted to eat the leftover.
He said he had to go to the street to buy bread for her since she said she was still hungry.
He further explained that he had to go out shortly after to get some money from a salesman who handles his CD sales.
"I came home and informed my wife that I got some money from my CD. She told me that she would like to eat wheat and white soup which I usually buy for her from a restaurant. I bought that for her," he said.
By that time, Lekan said the only thing he had eaten that day was the leftover noodles. He said the remaining money from the CD sales had been used to buy things needed in the house.
But his elder sister who had a shop nearby was to later give him N500 when she noticed that he did not look like he was feeling well.

"I went out to buy rice and when I came in and she saw me eating that, she flared up. She said I lied to her that I had no money. She was shouting but I pleaded with her to calm down so that my people around would not hear. She replied that it would not be well with the people. She abused my relations and parents.

"The following day, a Sunday, I swallowed my pride. I woke up and asked which clothes she would like to wear to church so that I could iron it with mine. When she did not answer, I left for church but came back after the workers' meeting.

"I got home and saw her preparing jollof rice but I went out to buy N60 bread and N40 beans. Trouble started again when she saw me eating that. She said I refused to give her money but I was buying food to eat. She said, 'Before I say anything now, you will go and complain to your useless family.' That was when I told her that it was her whole family that was useless. Had I known, I would have kept quiet. She took the plate of beans and poured it on my head."
But Lekan said even though many men would have pummelled such a woman, he feared he might kill her in anger. The matter died down, or so it seemed.
Around 2am, Lekan said he received a sudden and painful knock that woke him up from sleep and realised that it was from his wife.
"I knew she had decided to start her trouble again. But I did not in my wildest imagination think that she could do what she did next.

"Before I realised what she was doing, I felt a sharp pain in my manhood. I touched it and blood was gushing out. I screamed and my immediate thought was, 'Is this the way I would die?'"
Lekan pointed to a kitchen knife in a corner of his room. He said it was the weapon his wife used.
The wound inflicted on Lekan's manhood was deep but it had been stitched after he was rushed to the hospital by neighbours.

Lekan said he is not pressing charges against his wife.

NO MORE FOOD IN ASO ROCK: Jonathan Reduces Aso Rock’s Billion Naira Feeding Bill By N494 Million

          Posted: 31 Dec 2013 03:42 AM PST

Jonathan warnsAs the budget comes under an increasingly  intense media scrutiny, President Jonathan has given up nearly half of the presidency's giant feeding bill of N1 billion, a proposal, two years ago, that shocked Nigerians and stirred public anger.
The feeding cost has been lowered by N494 million or 45.5 percent in the 2014 budget proposal sent to the National Assembly by the president.
The 2014 request, if approved by lawmakers, will be the lowest amount of naira spent by the State House on feeding and allied costs in two years.

In the 2012 budget presented in late 2011 by the president, his office and residence as well as those of Vice President Namadi Sambo were allocated an obscene N993 million for refreshments, catering services and purchase of kitchen equipment.
That year, approximately N477million was assigned for foodstuffs and "catering materials supplies" for the president's office, while an additional N293 million was to provide "refreshment and meals" for the president's comfort at his home and office.
An extra N45.4 million was earmarked to buy canteen and kitchen equipment for the president's household, although similar purchases were made the previous year.
For the vice president's office in 2012, foodstuff, catering and materials supplies were scheduled to cost N104 million, while cooking gas and cooking fuel was to consume N6.2 million.
Refreshments and meals at Mr. Sambo's office and home were estimated at N20.8million, and another N45.4 million was allocated for purchase of kitchen and household equipment at the state house headquarters.
The funds allocated to feed Aso Rock in 2012 were sufficient to pay about 1,200 of the nation's growing unemployed graduates a monthly salary of N70, 000 for a year.
That revelation at the time, published by PREMIUM TIMES, aggravated public anger and revved up resistance to government's plan, within the same period, to remove petrol subsidy, and jack up the pump price of petrol.
A terribly embarrassed presidency quickly scrambled a review of the budget, cutting down the proposed feeding bill by N147 million.
But in the two years that have followed, the government has significantly lowered the feeding bill for the first and second families and their offices, raising the question how the huge 2012 bill may have been utilized, since the same purpose is now being served at a cheaper rate.
In 2013, the presidency's feeding was put at N717.3 million. For 2014, the figure has been scaled downward to N542.8 million, the new budget shows.
In 2014, for the president's office and residence, food stuff and catering materials supplies will cost N200.8 million, while refreshment and meals will gulp N162.6 million.
Cooking gas and fuel will be purchased at N 9.4 million while a new set of canteen and kitchen equipment-the same purchase that has consistently occurred for years-will cost the nation N131.8 million.
For the Vice president's office, food stuff and catering materials supplies will cost N23.9 million, refreshment and meals N10.8 million, while cooking gas and fuel cost would be N3.6 million.
The figures are subject to National Assembly's approval.
Federal revenues have dwindled during the past year with the government so terribly cash-strapped that it is unable to pay university teachers and execute key developmental projects.
