Posted: 26 Dec 2013 06:34 AM PST Mr Ugly, William Masvinu says women are throwing themselves at his feet. But he is not interested. Scooping the Mr Ugly title twice in a row is undisputable testament that Harare man, Masvinu, is indeed very ugly and deserves the accolade. Masvinu who shares his mobile with his wife Alice Chabhanga who is almost always by his side, said he does not have time for 'girls'. "Zvevasikana handina dhiri nazvo, I have my own girl at home and one needs to be careful these days because there are diseases," said Masvinu. Masvinu is confident of his looks and is unfazed by people who stare at him in the streets. "My ugliness comes naturally to me and although I did a bit to prepare for the show, I let my looks do the rest. Now I am a celebrity, when people meet me in the street they shout Mr Ugly and I wave at them happily," he said. Masvinu, who is a part time mechanic, revealed that he has also ventured into acting and features in a film titled Fuse Yatsva which has already been produced. "These days I spend time selling my film on the streets of Harare and people like it," he said. Last year, the 39-year-old was quoted bemoaning the lack of corporate support for "celebrities" like him. He said as the reigning Mr Ugly Harare, he should be in the same league with superstars such as Oliver Mtukudzi. "Despite my celebrity status, my life hasn't changed and I still struggle to make ends meet," he said. "The corporate world should support me as I am a celebrity just like other musicians and top people," he said. But, he added, as a celebrity he now enjoys numerous free drinks and beer and often gets into shows without paying as people "respect" his celebrity status. It is just a matter of time before Masvinu proves how far he can go as a celebrity or whether he will make headlines for grabbing other people's wives |

4 Resolutions Every Mom Should Make This New Year Posted: 26 Dec 2013 05:34 AM PST Whether you want to lose weight or gain income, here are four resolutions that every mother should have on her list this year. 1. Take Some Time for You Was your dinner cold by the time you got around to actually eating it? How many times did you get up to refill a cup, or get someone their favorite spoon, or more ketchup? The point is, that we take a lot of our time to cater to the needs of our family- we need to do the same for ourselves. Help your children become a little more independent by tasking them with things they should be able to do for themselves, and give yourself a break. Get out with your girlfriends more often, or just curl up by the fireplace with a good book, or maybe even give YOURSELF a bath! Bubbles? Even better! 2. Don't Miss the Moments That pile of laundry, the stack of dishes, and those dust bunnies in the corner will still be there tomorrow. Tomorrow, your children will be another day older; and they may no longer enjoy tickle wars on the rug, or have the time to sit and play with paper dolls. When they ask you to play with them – do it. There will always be something else you "should" be doing. The most important thing a mother has to do is mother her children. Mother them with love and attention, and be present in every moment. 3. Trust Your Instincts Have you ever left the doctor's office with the diagnosis of a "virus," yet you knew there was still something else going on? Then, did you return a few days – and another co-pay – later, only to learn that your instincts were right all along? This year, tune in to your motherly instincts and don't back down when you know you're right! Your children are too little to advocate for themselves, so you need to be their voices. 4. Strengthen Your Relationship with Your Spouse The greatest gift we can give our children is a safe and loving home. This should begin within the relationship we have with our spouses. We are role models for what a healthy, committed, and loving relationship will look like to our children. We will teach our children how others should treat them, by how we treat one another. Plus, once your children are grown, the relationship you have with your spouse is the one that needs to have endured. Don't stop courting each other. Talk with your spouse about more than just kids and finances! Go out ALONE! Kiss. Hold hands. Do things you both enjoyed before you had children. Spend time together behind closed doors. Make a renewed effort to actually put effort into your relationship. everydayfamily |
7 Laws to Attract the Person You Love Posted: 26 Dec 2013 05:28 AM PST Do you wish to attract someone to yourself? Is there a man or a woman that you like and want them to fall head over heels for you? If yes is your answer, then the seven principles of attraction is your key to success. The seven principles of attraction are seven simple ways that will help you grab anybody's attention and master the art of attraction. Rule 1- Hide and Seek If you want a person, never run after them. The more you chase them, the farther they will go away from you. Approach them, let them know that you like them but do not show them how much you want them. More often than not, strong emotions scare away people. Rule 2- Play hard Sometimes, playing hard to get works well. Love, in its initial stage is like a run and chase game and the chase is always the most fun part. The more you run away from a person, more curious he will be to catch you and find out the reason behind your running away from them. Men like women who are hard to get and women find those men interesting who have the potential and confidence to turn them down. Rule 3- Move slow Once, you get to know the person; do not be all over them. Make sure that you move cautiously and slowly into the relationship. Take your time and let the other person take their time to understand and comprehend things. Sometimes, moving too swiftly can mess things up. Rule 4- Be on your best behavior While trying to woo someone, be on your best behavior always. Some people say that love is blind but when attraction is involved, everybody gets an extra pair of eyes. Thus, wear your best clothes, best manners and put on your most charming manners. It will help, certainly. Rule 5- Air of Mystery Never reveal your true self. Mystery is an important element of attraction. A person will most certainly stay attracted to you till the time he/she doesn't completely understand you. Every time you do something which surprises them, they will run after you to understand you better. Rule 6- Shower compliments Be generous with compliments. Every person likes to be praised and be around people who like them. Thus, if you want to attract someone, make sure that you compliment them. However, make sure that your compliments do not come across as flattery. Rule 7- Pinch of jealousy A little jealousy can really help you in getting a person attracted to you. When you shower all your attention on one person and suddenly, you divert your attention from that one person to another, they will become jealous and would want to restore their position as the most important person in your life. Thus, they will begin to run after you. The seven laws of attraction, if used correctly can really help you in getting that special someone attracted to you within days. bollywoodshaadis |
Wedding Bells Ringing? Comfort Foods For Bride-To-Be!!! Posted: 26 Dec 2013 05:18 AM PST As beautiful as getting married is, it can be one of the most stressful times for a bride-to-be. A well-known fact is that stress can induce hunger pangs. Relying on foods to beat stress is very common. These 'comfort foods' are tempting, but they can be one of the major reasons behind the unwanted calories that pile up right before the special day. You definitely don't want added kilos and oily skin on your D-day. Here is how you can transform these sinful foods into something wonderful. 1. Pasta in red sauce This delicious comfort food can be transformed into a healthy meal by replacing the white sauce with a tomato sauce, adding antioxidant packed veggies like broccoli, cauliflower greens, beetroot, laced with crunchy lettuce leaves. You can even grate some skimmed milk cottage cheese (paneer) to add to the yumminess! If you must have the white sauce, use skimmed milk along with grated paneer for the preparation. Pick whole wheat pasta to make it even healthier. 2. Fruit juices and skimmed milkshakes Thick shakes from your regular cafes have enough sugar and calories to wake up a dead man. They do make you feel good, but the guilt that follows is something that you can't give a miss. So here is what you can do- chop your favourite fresh fruit in chilled skimmed milk with some ice in the blender and voila! You have your healthy fruit shake ready! You can even top it with more chopped fruits. Another option is to go for unsweetened fresh fruit juices. 3. Dark chocolates Chocolates are a woman's best friends. Well, at least for most in times of stress and panic. But the commonly available sugary chocolates or milk chocolates, apart from their high 'feel good' quotient, also stack you with unwanted calories from concentrated carbs. Dark chocolates i.e. the ones with 70-80% cocoa and unsweetened chocolates are the best choice if you are a choco-lover. 4. Nuts The trans fats in commercially packed fried foods like chips and namkeen can take a major toll on your digestive system and skin. So instead, go for baked snacks, roasted papads or nuts like walnuts and almonds that are rich in healthy fats. You can credit these for the amazing glow that your skin and hair will flaunt on the special day. 5. Fruits and veggies Rather than choosing 'skin evils' like salty, spicy, fried, trans fat loaded munchies, try to pick fresh fruits and vegetables. These are loaded with antioxidants that free your body of toxins. The fibre content in them also makes you feel full for a long time. The instant boost of energy, the healthy and fresh feel that they give is what will work wonders for you in this stressful period. Some quick replacements and easy home choices are better than choosing commercially available foods. Also, remember that there is no substitute for regular physical activity. Aerobic exercises are known to relieve stress and improve blood circulation, thus working magic for your skin and hair. As a bride, what more can you ask for? bollywoodshaadis |

Posted: 26 Dec 2013 05:08 AM PST Suntai, who spoke at the Unity Chapel, Government House, Jalingo, at a church service to commemorate Christmas day, also asked for forgiveness from anyone he has offended, saying it was not deliberate. His words: "To the ones that I have touched their lives, I thank God. To those I have not been able to touch their lives I am pleading that they should be patient with me. And if I am not able to impact on your life throughout my tenures, my successor would do that. "As a human, I have my own limitations, but I believe that God will give us a successor that will perform better than me. "For me, I cannot do more than what I can do, because that is the strength and wisdom God has given me", he said. The governor added that he would remain forever grateful for the mandate given him to serve the state as governor. He said: "I want to apologise if I have wronged anyone of you. It is not my intention to offend anybody". He also expressed gratitude to the people who have stood by him during what he called "trying times" and asked them to continue praying for him even when he would have left office as governor. Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, representing Taraba South Senatorial District in the upper legislative chamber, like others present at the church service, was moved to tears as the governor spoke. Suntai, who wished the people happy Christmas celebration, said he is aware that some people were now being persecuted because they are supporting him. He, however, asked them to remain patient because they would soon smile. Suntai is currently locked in an intense power struggle with the acting governor of the state, Alhaji Garba Umar, who refused to revert to his original position as deputy governor when Suntai returned from a long medical sojourn abroad that spanned 10-months following injuries he sustained when a plane he flew crashed near Yola, Adamawa state capital in October last year. The Peoples' Democratic Party, PDP, however, worked out a power sharing plan between both leaders that involved Umar continuing in acting capacity until Suntai is fully recovered to take over. The agreement also stipulates that the acting governor clears with Gov. Suntai before taking decisions on matters of state. Former Governor Jolly Nyame, who only recently reconciled with Suntai and was at the Christmas service, declared that the governor will complete his eight years tenure and handover, because God did not destine anybody to take over his seat. Nyame, who clocked 58-years on Christmas day, also took indirect jabs at the acting governor, describing him as a usurper and power-hungry politician. "How can you invite someone to come and eat in your house, during the dinner, something happened and the man packed the whole food and is also trying to drive you out of the house?" Nyame said in apparent reference to Umar. The former governor said he decided to reconcile with Suntai because he wants the right thing to be done and to be part of the historic handover. Nyame single-handedly installed Suntai as his successor until the pair fell apart as a result of political scheming for control of state party structures. Nyame said Suntai was strong enough to resume office as governor, adding that he (Suntai) called his (Nyame) grandson of six years old by name on Tuesday night during the Christmas carol. Continuing, Nyame, who is a Reverend, said: "As I am here (in the church) phone calls will start coming in to know why I am here, but I will not deter in what God has asked me to do". Nyame also prayed that former President Olusegun Obasanjo and President Goodluck Jonathan would reconcile their differences which have dominated public discourse in recent times. "What has happened in Taraba state between me and my successor (Suntai) happened at the federal level, between former President Olusegun Obasanjo and his successor, President Goodluck Jonathan", he said. |

Nigerian doctor attacks female patient who disagreed with diagnosis Posted: 26 Dec 2013 04:59 AM PST A Nigerian doctor allegedly attacked a female patient in his surgery when she disagreed with his diagnosis, UK Daily Mail reports. Dr Abiodun Bale, 42, (pictured above) grabbed Sheena Cunningham as she tried to leave his consultation room in tears after they argued over treatment for a facial condition. The doctor from Nigeria denied assault when he appeared in court but was found guilty after a two-day trial. He was given a six-month conditional discharge but will face a disciplinary hearing at work and could lose his job. Bale, who qualified as a doctor at the University of Lagos in 1995, worked as a gynaecologist in his home country before coming to Britain and registering with the General Medical Council in 2006.He was given a licence to practice here in November 2009 and was on a placement, for specialty GP training, at Hyndburn Medical Practice in Accrington, Lancashire, when the assault happened on March 26. Eddie Harrison, prosecuting, said Bale had asked Mrs Cunningham to come in to the practice after a telephone consultation about a problem with her face, during which she had become distressed. When she arrived, the doctor told Mrs Cunningham she might need to call for an ambulance if her condition deteriorated later when the surgery was closed. Mr Harrison told Burnley Magistrates' Court: 'She didn't want to do this and at this point he raised his voice.' Mrs Cunningham was frightened, got up to leave and said she wanted a second opinion, the court was told. '[Bale] became agitated and, as she stepped out, he grabbed her hand to prevent her closing the door,' Mr Harrison said. 'He then grabbed her by the forearm with both hands and tried to drag her back into the room. She screamed and shouted at him to get off her arm. This attracted the attention of another doctor and two cleaners. The other doctor told Bale to go back into his office and then escorted Mrs Cunningham out of the surgery.' The court was told that a week earlier the GP, who lives in Manchester, 'flipped' at another patient, shouting at her: 'For God's sake, I have other people to see besides you.' 'She got up to leave and he tried to grab her hand. She felt frightened and vulnerable,' said Mr Harrison. Bale claimed the incident with Mrs Cunningham was a misunderstanding, saying: 'I'm a doctor, not a thug.' But Mr Harrison said: 'There was no mistake or misunderstanding. She was crying so loudly that two ladies outside heard her crying.' After the allegations, the GMC placed conditions on how Bale worked, including allowing him to carry out consultations only if another qualified medical practitioner was present. The Pennine Acute Hospitals Trust, which employs Bale, said he would face disciplinary proceedings. 'The trust will now consider the consequences for his ongoing employment and training,' a spokesman said. Culled from UK Daily Mail |
