Female FCT Staff In Police Net Posted: 30 Dec 2013 08:40 AM PST Operatives of the Special Fraud Unit, SFU, of the Nigeria Police at Milverton Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, have arrested a female staff of the Federal Capital Development Authority, Abuja, Hajara Egbra, 45, for allegedly obtaining the sum of N25 million under false pretence. The SFU's Public Relations Officer, DSP Ngozi Isitumen Agu, said the suspect was arrested following a written complaint by a female victim (name withheld) to the Commissioner of Police, CP Tunde Ogunsakin, that the suspect sold a plot of land to her within Asokoro Extension, Abuja, in 2009 for the sum of N25 million. The victim alleged that she paid the money in three installments. She said she paid N10 million each for the first two installments and the suspect issued receipts with invoice Nos.0073 and 0201 to her as proofs of purchase respectively, while the last payment of N5 million was made in 2012 through an old generation bank cheque No. 0179593. The petitioner stated that she discovered that she had been duped by the suspect when she was trying to process the documents of the land. When she confronted the suspect, the suspect took her to another land as compensation and she used about N450,000 to fence off the new land. The petitioner reported the matter to the police when the suspect came back to tell her that the land did not belong to her again. DSP Agu said that during interrogation, the suspect who claimed to be a native of Kogi State and a technical officer with the Federal Capital Development Authority, allegedly confessed to the crime. According to the police, in her statement, the suspect, who owns a shop at Garki modern market in Abuja, admitted that she collected the money and gave the sum of N8.5 million to a developer, Mohammed Sodiq, now at large, while she took the balance for her services. Agu said the suspect would be arraigned in court after the investigation of the matter. —Paul Iyoghojie |

SHOCKING! Wife and her Pastor Lover Murders husband! Posted: 30 Dec 2013 08:38 AM PST It was quite sad and a pathetic end for Mr Victor Nsongbunyo, an indigene of Akwa Ibom state and Deputy Manager at the Nigeria Petroleum Development (NPDC) Company, Benin City. The deceased allegedly murdered by his wife Mrs Enebong Victor and her Pastor boyfriend, Prince Udoka Nkanchukwu who were paraded by the Edo state Police Commissioner, Funso Adebanjo last Tuesday. Saturday Vanguard learnt that the deceased who was recently promoted to the position of Deputy Manager, was due to retire next year. It was learnt that the decease and his wife had been having issues with the paternity of their children after the deceased suspected the wife was having an extra marital affair with the Pastor. The deceased was said to have visited home to complain to both his family and that of his wife after suspecting that the current pregnancy which is being carried by the wife was not from him. Consequently, the families resolved that a DNA would be conducted after giving birth to the child. Saturday Vanguard further learnt that it was this arrangement that infuriated the wife that led her into plotting to murder her husband with her lover Pastor. Friday October 22, 2013, It was learnt that the Pastor whom Vanguard gathered has been a close family friend, called the deceased on telephone and told him he wanted to see him. The deceased was said to have drove to somewhere along Sapele road, to meet with the Pastor. On getting there, it was gathered that the Pastor entered the vehicle and stabbed the deceased twice. As if that was not enough, he drove the car to hidden destination along Sapele road and set both the car and the deceased car ablaze. On Monday 25, the wife was said to have gone to the office to report that the husband was missing. But apparently after visiting the husband's office, she went straight to the bank and withdrew N4milion from the husband's account. The wife of the deceased also went to the police to report the incident. However, staff of the NDDC was informed that people observed a burnt car and somebody inside it somewhere along Sapele Road, they quickly rushed down and found it was that of Mr Nsongbunyo. The shocked NPDC staff went back to the deceased wife at their home to inform her of the situation but found her sitting comfortably at home watching African Magic. However, detectives intensified search for the deceased new car which was given to him by the company following his promotion. The car, a Volkswagen Passat car was tracked to a compound at Ekenwan road Benin City. Vanguard learnt that a lady was accosted by detectives in the compound and she confessed that the car was packed by a Pastor that lives in the compound. When the Pastor came out, detectives observed burns in his left hand and his face. The Pastor disclosed that one of his daughters in the church sowed a seed with the car. He subsequently took them to the residence of the deceased where it was discovered that it was the deceased wife. The duo were arrested immediately and according to the state Police commissioner, have confessed to have committed the dastard act. According to Adebanjo, "what happened was that the Pastor called the deceased to come and meet him somewhere along Sapele Road, when the deceased got there the Pastor stabbed him twice and then burnt the car. The woman gave the husband's new car to the Pastor and we found the car with the Pastor. A 2013 model of Volkswagen car. It is a very sad and wicked act. After killing the man in his vehicle he set the car ablaze. The Pastor changed the plate number of the car and put a fake one after he murdered the man. It was when we saw the burnt in his hand that we knew that he was involved. Though he has confessed and after now we will take them to court. They both confessed that they are lovers but I believe that it was wicked on their part to have plotted the killing of the man. Mrs Isonguyo who denied she was having extra marital affairs with the Pastor, narrated that "when I did not see my husband I ran to the Pastor because we have known for a very long time. I took my husband's new car to him to sow a seed in the church so that my husband will be found. I told him to take it to the church but I don't know that he went and changed the plate numbers. I had to ask him to pray harder because I love my husband and I don't want anything to happen to him. I did not kill my husband because I loved him. I brought the car and told him to take it to his church and sow a seed that I want God to answer my prayers so that my husband will come back. I told him to take it to the church because even if it is a house I would have taken it to sow a seed for my husband to come back. I gave it to him but what I did not know was that he went to change the plate number and other papers that have to do with the car. I was lying down in the house at about 11pm that day when the police came and arrested me". Asked if she is having extra marital affair with the Pastor, she asserted " God forbid, I have not had any affair with the Pastor. The Pastor has been a close family friend and we always give him cloths to go and share in the orphanages. And even when I travelled with my husband we gave him our ATM card so that he can take care of our poultry and whatever that is needed to be done. He has been very honest to us so I don't know what is happening". She further denied having quarrel with the late husband, asserting that "Until I came to this place nobody told me that my husband is dead. I pray that God should intervene because I have never committed any crime before in my life. I want God to intervene in this matter. I have three boys for my husband, 17, 16 and 15 years". In his confession, Pastor Ukachukwu whom Vanguard learnt has not been to their church, Land of Evidence Church along Airport Road Benin City, said he kicked against bringing the car to him by the deceased wife but decided to accept it when she insisted that she wanted to sow a seed. According to him "I have been a family Pastor and sometimes I pick their children from school. She called me and said that she wanted to give me a car to sow a seed in my church. When she even brought the car I asked her why she should bring the car in the middle of this crisis but she said her husband is worth more than any material thing that she can make any sacrifice for her husband. I changed the plate number because any gift for Pastors you have to change it in order to be able to drive the car". CP Adebanjo said the duo would be charged to court |

Posted: 30 Dec 2013 08:34 AM PST China has banned officials from smoking in public places such as schools and hospitals in renewed efforts to cut the 1.4million deaths linked to tobacco each year. The edict, which comes from the highest levels of the ruling Communist Party, has been hailed as a 'major breakthrough' in a country which has the world's largest number of smokers with 300million. Until Sunday's notice from the State Council, or China's Cabinet, and the party's central committee, attempts to curb smoking in public places were largely limited to city and other local-level measures. Stubbing it out: Chinese delegates attending a meeting at the Great Hall of the People smoke cigarettes in Beijing. China is to ban officials from smoking in public to set an example to the rest of the country (file picture) The health ministry pushed out guidelines banning smoking in venues including hotels and restaurants in 2011, but these were criticized as having no clear punishments or details on how such bans would be enforced. The new rules, which campaigners hope will help bring about a nationwide law banning smoking in public places, call on officials to lead by example by stubbing out their cigarettes. Officials are not allowed to smoke in schools, hospitals, sports venues, on public transport or any other places where smoking is banned, or to smoke or offer cigarettes when performing official duties, the official Xinhua News said. They also cannot use public funds to buy cigarettes, and within Communist Party or government offices tobacco products cannot be sold nor adverts displayed. 'This is likely a major breakthrough. For the first time, very high-level attention and support is being given to anti-tobacco efforts,' said Ray Yip, head of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation's China program, which has been working on smoking cessation campaigns in the country. 'This likely will lead to meaningful legislation and enforcement related to smoking,' Yip said. Health hazard: Officials are no longer allowed to smoke in schools, hospitals, sports venues or on public transport China, with a population of 1.35 billion, has more than 300 million smokers. Experts say huge revenues from the state-owned tobacco monopoly have hindered anti-smoking measures. An order banning party officials from smoking indoors, handed down from the highest levels of power, could help to reduce its influence. Smoking, which is linked to an average annual death toll of 1.4 million people in China in recent years, is one of the greatest health threats the country faces, government statistics show. The annual number of cigarettes sold in the country increased by 50 per cent to 2.52 trillion in 2012 compared with 10 years earlier, according to the Chinese Association on Tobacco Control, which is overseen by health authorities. 'Smoking remains a relatively universal phenomenon in public venues. Some officials smoke in public places, which has not only jeopardized the environment and public health, but tarnished the image of party and government offices and leaders and has a negative influence,' the circular read, according to Xinhua. |
Posted: 30 Dec 2013 08:27 AM PST A tin of biscuits and a pint of milk were both reported stolen from police stations as officers repeatedly filed crime reports for their own missing possessions. Other items which were supposedly stolen from police stations in Devon and Cornwall included make-up, phone chargers, a torch and £2 in cash. Police filed the bizarre reports at the same time as being called to deal with around 100 genuine thefts a day. Theft: Police filed a crime report when a tin of biscuits went missing from Heavitree station in Exeter, pictured Officers at the Heavitree police station in Exeter reported in February 2012 that a tin of biscuits had been stolen from the premises. In another incident that year, police claimed that a pint of skimmed milk had been stolen from a station. Precise details of the alleged theft are unclear, but it is thought that officers suspected a colleague of taking the milk without asking. The bottle apparently had a set of initials written on its lid in an attempt to deter thieves - but without success. The crime is officially classified as unsolved. Mystery: The culprit behind the disappearance of the biscuits has never been found (file photo) Swiped: At another stations, a missing pint of milk was recorded as a stolen item (file photo |

Posted: 30 Dec 2013 08:15 AM PST A Saudi prince who murdered a fellow Saudi may be executed, a newspaper reported on Sunday, in a rare example of a member of the kingdom's ruling family facing the death penalty. The English-language Arab News did not name the prince or his victim, but said a senior member of the family and government, Crown Prince Salman, had 'cleared the way for the possible execution of a prince convicted of murdering a Saudi citizen'. In a message about the case to Interior Minister Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, Prince Salman said: 'Sharia (Islamic law) shall be applied to all without exception', the daily reported. Ruling: Crown Prince Salman has said that no one is immune from Sharia law Prince Salman's message followed a statement from the victim's father that he was not ready to pardon the killer and he was not happy with the amount offered as blood money. The families of murder victims are encouraged by authorities to accept blood money instead of insisting on execution. The paper quoted Crown Prince Salman's message as saying: 'There is no difference between big and small, rich and poor ... Nobody is allowed to interfere with the judiciary's decision. This is the tradition of this state. We are committed to following the sharia.' Interior Minister Prince Mohammed bin Nayef was told to clear the way for an execution of the royal An Interior Ministry spokesman was approached by Reuters for a comment, but no one was available at the time of writing. The Arab News is part of a media group chaired by a son of Crown Prince Salman, who is also deputy prime minister and minister of defence. The kingdom, which follows a strict version of sharia has been criticised in the West for its high number of executions, inconsistencies in the application of the law, and its use of public beheading to carry out death sentences. Saudi Arabia had executed at least 47 people as of May 2013, according to Amnesty International's website, compared to 82 in all of 2011 and a similar number in 2012. Members of the ruling family are only rarely known to be executed. One of the most prominent cases was Faisal bin Musaid al Saud, who assassinated his uncle, King Faisal, in 1975. The family is estimated to number several thousand. While members receive monthly stipends, and the most senior princes command great wealth and political power, only a few in the family hold nationally important government posts. |

Woman suffers serious head injuries after jumping 50ft from burning block of flats Posted: 30 Dec 2013 08:03 AM PST A woman was seriously injured in the early hours of this morning after she jumped from her third-floor flat during a fire. She was apparently trapped inside the flat in Haggerston, East London when the blaze broke out, forcing the evacuation of the building. After jumping from the window in a bid to save herself, she fell nearly 50ft to the ground and suffered serious head injuries. Fire engines and ambulances attended the scene, and paramedics took the woman to be treated in hospital. Blaze: This block of flats in Haggerson, East London was the scene of a fire in the early hours of this morning The five-bedroom flat where the unidentified woman lives received 25 per cent damage, according to firemen, but was only part of the six-storey building affected. No one else is believed to have been hurt in the fire, which broke out shortly before 3am. A spokesman for the London Fire Brigade said: 'We received a call at 2.50 this morning to Adelaide Wharf, Whiston Road. 'One adult female jumped from the third-floor level before we arrived. She was removed by the London Ambulance Service. 'We used two jets, breathing apparatus and thermal imaging cameras.' The London Ambulance Service said in a statement: 'We sent two crews and a duty officer and treated one patient, a woman. 'She was taken as a priority to the Royal London Hospital with a head injury. 'Her condition is serious.' Another resident of the building said that she initially thought the fire alarm must be a drill before realising that it was a genuine emergency. |
Posted: 30 Dec 2013 08:00 AM PST She has to wear extra large trousers and once managed to crack a toilet bowl just by sitting on it but Sarah Massey, 33, says she is proud to have one of the world's largest posteriors. The Chicago mother-of-two's derriere measures an impressive 7ft in diameter and sometimes proves too large to fit through doorways. But despite being proud of her record-breaking rear end, 32-stone Ms Massey admits that living with a super-sized bottom isn't always easy and receives £750 in disability benefit each month as a result of having limited mobility. Scroll down for video Proud: Sarah claims to be proud of her ample derriere and takes part in photo shoots for her male admirers 'Everyday I get some kind of comment thrown at me, both good and bad - I used to be ashamed but now I hold my head high,' she revealed. 'At school I was teased and called Dump Truck Butt by the other kids, but the condition is hereditary - there's nothing I can do about it. 'I went through a stage of worrying what people think, but now I want to show the world I am proud to be me.' Now Ms Massey is so proud of her unique physique, she even takes part in risque photo shoots for fans of her figure. 'Some people can't believe one person can have this much butt,' she adds. 'Because I've got a relatively small frame on top they say, "that can't be real". 'I carry this weight with me all the time, everywhere I go, it's definitely not fake. Big booty's are just in my blood.' Problems: But the mother-of-two admits she suffers from limited mobility caused by her vast posterior Older: Sarah says her bottom attracts men years older than her, including Albert (left), the father of her sons And after discovering an online community of men who appreciate curvy women, Sarah says she has no shortage of admirers. She explained: 'It began when I took pictures of myself to document my weight loss and a photographer friend put them on Facebook. 'They got so many likes that he asked if we could do some modelling pictures, then those pictures went viral.' But while she is comfortable with her dimensions, filling her wardrobe is expensive and requires serious planning. 'Because of my size I can't ever find outfits in normal stores. My top half is a 7XL and my bottom half is 10XL so I have to go to specialists. 'I buy most of my clothes online because there are few plus-size stores with big enough clothes. Larger outfits are expensive so I can spend up to £400 per month on clothes.' And her problems don't end with finding clothes. Thanks to her ample bottom, she finds it difficult to perform even the most basic chores. Tight fit: Along with doors, Sarah confesses to having problems doing up her seat belt because of her rear Weighty business: Sarah's bottom is so large, she once cracked a theatre toilet bowl just by sitting on it Inspiration: Sarah says she hopes to inspire other large ladies to love themselves a little more 'With most doorways I have to go in sideways - I do the little wiggle dance to get through,' she explained. 'I've broken chairs before and I once broke a toilet bowl I was sat on at the theatre - it was awful.' However, now Sarah is taking steps to tackle her mobility issues with workout sessions to help her lose weight. 'Although I love my butt I would like to make it just a little bit smaller,' she confessed. 'The size that it is causes back problems- even sitting down on a chai can be painful.' And although Sarah says large posteriors run in the family, she admits that her unhealthy junk food diet doesn't help. 'Apart from my younger sister, the women in my family all have large behinds - I only eat between 1,500 and 2,000 calories per day. 'However do have a problem with portion control and I sometimes get tempted by ice cream - that's my weakness.' Growing up Ms Massey says she was constantly teased because if her developing behind - and was only chatted up by older men. 'Guys my age weren't interested in me - they liked my skinnier friends. Old guys would hit on me because they appreciated my body. 'Because of that I always ended up in relationships with guys 10, sometimes 20 years older.' Despite the negative comments and difficulties fitting through the door and into regular clothes, Sarah says she has no regrets and hopes to inspire other women. 'I'm trying to make the most of what I've been given and being confident about who I am makes me happy,' added Ms Massey. 'If I can inspire others to embrace their curves and be proud big, beautiful women, I would be very happy.' |

Posted: 30 Dec 2013 05:43 AM PST A 23-year-old university student in China will be executed after hanging two prostitutes and having sex with their corpses. The student, whose surname is Lee, was studying design at Jilin University in Changchun and told police that he had been failing a lot of classes and called the prostitutes to help relieve the pressure. He also told detectives that he used to have fantasies about having sex with dead bodies and decided one morning that he could no longer resist carrying it out. Macabre: The student had sex with a prostitute he'd murdered to fulfill a fantasy, police heard (file picture) On March 6 this year he hired a 20-year-old prostitute called Cai through the internet, according to iFeng.com. Lee then hanged her and had her body shipped back to his house in Changping , where he had sex with the corpse. It was then dismembered and the parts buried in Lee's garden. Pressure: Jilin University (pictured) student Lee said he ordered the prostitutes to help him relax during his studies On March 23 he carried out the same macabre act on the body of another prostitute that he'd hanged and shipped home. Young chef died after an ambulance took TWO HOURS to reach his home as he coughed up blood Posted: 30 Dec 2013 05:36 AM PST Delay: Paul Nelson died after an ambulance took two hours to reach his Norfolk home Paul Nelson, 26, collapsed in his bathroom in the village of Blakeney in Norfolk, after returning from a shift at a local hotel with a headache. Mr Nelson's parents watched as his condition deteriorated, culminating in him coughing up blood and collapsing on the bathroom floor. His father Sidney Nelson, 59, and stepmother Haylie Wardhaugh, 45, dialled 999 at 11.15pm but an ambulance did not arrive until after 1am the next day - taking more than six times longer than targets dictate. By the time he arrived at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, nothing could be done to save Mr Nelson's life. Following Mr Nelson's death, health minister Norman Lamb demanded a shake-up of paramedic response targets in rural areas. Mr Nelson's death comes four months after a coroner branded East of England Ambulance Service crews 'chaotic' after hearing that three-month-old Bella Hellings died when paramedics took more than three times longer than national targets dictate to reach her home in Thetford, Norfolk. Sidney Nelson, who is disabled and cared for by Miss Wardhaugh, said he was disgusted by the delay that led to his son's death. He added: 'He was an otherwise healthy young man... He just came home one night and it was obvious there was something seriously wrong.' Mr Nelson went on to say: 'We just wanted to get him to hospital as quickly as we could to get him the treatment he needed.' Paul Nelson's parents forced their way into the locked bathroom after becoming concerned and found him lying on the floor. Criticised: Paul Nelson's death comes four months after a coroner branded East of England Ambulance Service crews 'chaotic' following the death of three-month-old Bella Hellings A paramedic arrived at the house within 15 minutes of the call on November 14. But the family said the treatment he could offer was limited and the emergency worker contacted the East of England Ambulance Service control room three times to ask for an ambulance to come more quickly. After arriving at hospital, scans and tests were carried out but he soon stopped breathing. Mr Nelson said: 'It was obvious his condition was worse than they were letting on... the paramedic himself seemed quite angry and frustrated that it was taking so long. He added: 'By the time he went out of the door, I would say he was pretty much dead..I don't know if they could have saved his life but two hours seems like a long time and you can't help thinking that, had they acted quicker, he would still be alive today.' Distraught: Paul Nelson's parents forced their way into the locked bathroom after becoming concerned The ambulance service has not offered the family any explanation for the delay but has told them an investigation has been launched. Following Mr Nelson's death, North Norfolk MP Norman Lamb said he would urgently raise the issue of ambulance delays in rural areas. He described Mr Nelson's death as 'all too familiar' as ambulance trusts neglect rural areas in favour of 'easier' urban response times. Mr Lamb added: 'I don't have a complete blueprint for the answer but I'm clear there is a massive risk that the current system is distorting clinical priorities and rural patients are suffering as a result'. Mr Nelson's death comes four months after a coroner branded East of England Ambulance Service crews 'chaotic' following the death three-month-old Bella Hellings. An inquest heard that one vehicle got lost because 'there were too many blue doors' on Bella's street in Thetford, Norfolk, while another stopped for petrol while answering a 999 call in March. In October, an inquest heard that Evelyn Heath, 93, from Attleborough, Norfolk, died from an irregular heartbeat in the back of an ambulance after the vehicle took more than four hours to reach her care home. A spokesman for the ambulance service refused to comment on an ongoing inquiry into Mr Nelson's death but clinical operations manager Duncan Moore wrote to the family acknowledging that it appeared to have been a 'serious incident'. The trust has recently appointed a new chief executive after criticism that response times in the East of England were among the worst in the country. Targets have been put in place for paramedics to reach the most urgent 999 calls within eight minutes and get a vehicle to patients within 19 minutes. Mr Nelson, who was a keen footballer, worked at the George Hotel in nearby Cley-next-the-Sea. Since his death his organs have been donated to four different people. Miss Wardhaugh said: 'He was a lovely bloke and he had so many friends. He would help anybody.' |
Posted: 30 Dec 2013 05:48 AM PST Roshni Barot (pictured), 28, was served the chicken sandwich at Nando's in the Bullring, Birmingham, after she had ordered a grilled halloumi cheese pitta. She covered her dinner with peri peri sauce and salad and had eaten most of the meal before realising what it was. She was so distraught after eating the chicken she unsuccessfully tried to make herself sick when she got home. She was also still distressed the next day and was allowed to go home early from her job as placements officer at the University of Birmingham. The manager at the restaurant apologised and offered her vouchers for another meal, which she refused. She said: 'They can never say or do anything to make this up to me. Nothing can compensate me for those 28 years. I can feel it sitting there in my stomach. I feel like it's not my body anymore. They took away my choice about what to put in my body and now I can't ever say that I have never eaten meat. I have devoted myself to this for 28 years and someone has taken this away from me. 'I want to know what steps they are taking to stop this happening again. I was a Nando's fan but I will never go there again.' Ms Barot was served the meal at Nando's in the Bullring, Birmingham, (pictured) after she had ordered a grilled halloumi cheese pitta A Nando's spokesman said: 'We deeply regret that a customer was mistakenly served a chicken pitta instead of the halloumi pitta ordered. 'Nando's has the utmost respect for all our customers' eating choices and this was an honest - and extremely rare - mistake which the restaurant are extremely sorry about. 'We are currently in contact with the customer and have offered our sincere apologies and are investigating how this has happened to ensure it doesn't happen again.'
