Iranian woman denied swimming record because her outfit 'showed her feminine features. Posted: 03 Sep 2013 11:44 AM PDT An Iranian woman who swam 20km wearing a hijab has been denied the official record because her outfit showed her 'feminine features'. Elham Asghari designed a special 'Islamic' bathing suit adding 6kg to her weight so that she would be allowed to attempt the long-distance swim on the Caspian Sea in June. But the outfit was apparently not modest enough for the country's conservative religious authorities, and her record was not officially recognised. Plea: Elham Asghari was denied a 20km swimming record because of her 'immodest' outfit The 32-year-old took nine hours to swim the 20km (12.4 miles), setting out from the town of Nowshahr into the freezing waters of the Caspian. She did so in defiance of officials who are opposed to women swimming in open waters because of the risk of displaying their body shapes to men.   Even though Ms Asghari wore a loose-fitting swimsuit which included a headscarf, the authorities were opposed to her efforts - and refused to acknowledge that she had made it the full 20km. 'They said no matter how Islamic my swimming gear, it was unacceptable,' she told the Guardian earlier this year. 'They said the feminine features of my body were showing as I came out of water.' Outfit: The 32-year-old was wearing a hijab swimsuit which mostly hid the shape of her body 'Feminine features': Iranian authorities are keen to discourage women from swimming in open waters In a bid to gain public support for her battle against the authorities, she made a haunting video of herself swimming around while wearing the swimsuit - which she claims most swimmers would be unable to handle. 'I swam 20km in Nowshahr, they lowered it to 15km,' she says in the video, posted on YouTube. 'I protested and they accepted 18km. Yet now, they do not register the record. 'My 20km record has been held hostage in the hands of people who cannot even swim a distance of 20 metres.' The video then cuts to Ms Asghari sitting in a car wearing a headscarf, when she delivers an inspirational message aimed not just at fellow swimmers but at all women living in the theocratic state. 'I'm not going to submit to bullying, and I ask you not to submit either,' she says. 'I ask you to give your utmost effort to achieve your goals.' During a previous open-water swim, Ms Asghari was blocked by police boats which ended up cutting her legs with their propellers. Women in Iran are allowed to swim in segregated swimming pools, and to compete in the Women's Islamic Games which are held periodically in Tehran. However, they are banned from travelling to competitions abroad, and the authorities frown on swimming in open waters. 'They fear that if they recognise my record then they would unwittingly approve my swimming gear and that would eventually give women swimmers access to open waters,' Ms Asghari told the Guardian. She has expressed hope that the new regime led by Hassan Rouhani might prove more accommodating than that of Mahmoud Ahmedinejad.

Posted: 03 Sep 2013 11:19 AM PDT A Chinese boy has become the youngest person to fly a light airplane single-handed at the age of five, according to his over-achieving father 'Eagle Dad'. He Yide, nicknamed Duoduo, completed the 35-minute flight at Beijing Wildlife Park in China on Saturday. His father He Liesheng calls himself an 'Eagle Dad' and the pair made headlines last year when pictures emerged of the boy being forced to do push-ups in the snow in New York. He apparently paid 30,000 yuan (£3,100) for private flying lessons for his son and now says he will contact the Guinness Book of Records about the feat. According to China's People Day, there was another pilot in the aircraft with Duoduo but only for supervision.   The super-strict father wrote on Weibo, China's equivalent of Twitter: 'His first flight was very successful and he wasn't scared at all.' He senior, from Nanjing in eastern China, is famous in his home country for the daily training regime he puts his son through.  .   His mother could also be heard in the footage, encouraging the boy to carry on as he begged for a hug. Mr Liesheng also trains his son to enable him to compete against much older children in sailing competitions. Eagle Dad has previously said that because his son was born several months premature he had to make him undergo tough tests of physical and mental endurance to build up his strength. He said at the time: 'Only by placing him in a situation with strong winds and waves can he show his potential.' Last year, He and his two children had to be rescued from Mount Fuji in Japan after the father ignored weather warnings. The pushy parent had brought only a chocolate bar and a cup of water for rations, thinking there would be shops en route. He admitted that he was as terrified as his children on some stretches of the climb, when the trio were forced to scale 70-degree slopes. The militant father had not brought waterproof clothing, so a sudden downpour soaked them to the skin, and most shelters on the mountain were boarded up. As temperatures dipped to almost zero and the air became thinner, his children began crying and Duoduo, was nearly collapsing with altitude sickness. Father who beat to death man he caught raping his 5yr old daughter won't face charges Posted: 03 Sep 2013 11:14 AM PDT District Attorney Heather McMinn and Lavaca County Sheriff Mica Harmon appear at a news conference in Halletsville, Texas on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 in the aftermath of the killing A Texas father who discovered a man raping his five-year-old daughter and beat him to death with his bare hands will not be charged with homicide under state law. A Lavaca County grand jury decided not to press charges against the 23-year-old father in the June 9th death of Jesus Mora Flores, 47, who was killed inside a remote shack after he was caught molesting the young girl. Under Texas state law, deadly force is authorized and indeed, justified in order to stop an aggravated sexual assault and coupled with the fact that the harrowing 911 calls made by the father back claims he even tried to save the pedophile's life led to the grand jury's decision. Lavaca County sheriff's deputies said that the father, whose name has not been released to protect the little girl's identity, sent her and her brother to feed the family's chickens. The boy rushed back to tell his dad that someone had grabbed his sister and taken her to a small secluded shack and the father rushed towards his daughter's screams and arrived to find them both with their underwear off. Flying into a rage, the father beat Flores unconscious, but attempted to call 911 for the rapist after he had made sure his daughter was safe. Sheriff Micah Harmon had said in June that he was not willing to press charges against the father, rather the case would be presented to a grand jury. At the time, Harmon said that the man was 'very remorseful' and didn't know at the time he had killed Flores. 'You have a right to defend your daughter,' Harmon told CNN at the time. 'The girl's father acted in defense of his third person. Once the investigation is completed we will submit it to the district attorney who then submits it to the grand jury, who will decide if they will indict him.' Indeed, the father is heard profanely screaming at a dispatcher who couldn't locate the property. Becoming increasingly frazzled, the father at one point tells the dispatcher he's going to put the man in his truck and drive him to a hospital before sheriff's deputies finally arrive. V'Anne Huser, the father's attorney, sternly told reporters several times during a news conference at the Lavaca County courthouse that neither the father nor the family will ever give interviews. 'He's a peaceable soul,' Huser said. 'He had no intention to kill anybody that day.' The attack happened on the family's ranch off a quiet, two-lane county road between the farming towns of Shiner and Yoakum. Authorities say a witness saw Flores 'forcibly carrying' the girl into a secluded area and then scrambled to find the father. Running toward his daughter's screams, investigators said, the father pulled Flores off his child and 'inflicted several blows to the man's head and neck area.' Emergency crews found Flores' pants and underwear pulled down on his lifeless body by the time they responded to the 911 call.  The girl was taken to a hospital and examined, and authorities say forensic evidence and witness accounts corroborated the father's story that his daughter was being sexually molested. 'Under the law in the state of Texas deadly force is authorized and justified in order to stop an aggravated sexual assault or sexual assault,' District Attorney Heather McMinn told reporters in June. Randy Pastor Used 30yrs Old Lady During Private Deliverance Posted: 03 Sep 2013 11:09 AM PDT A 46-year-old Pastor, Olamide Sobowale, of Glory Church of Christ Aladura, Oke-Itoku, Abeokuta, Ogun State, has been ordered to be remanded in prison custody for raping a woman while conducting a spiritual bath on her in his church backyard. Pastor Sobowale, who was arraigned before a Magistrate Court sitting in Isabo, Ogun State, on Monday was accused of raping 30-year-old Dupe Makinde, who lives in Isaje, Abeokuta, while giving her a spiritual bath which was recommended by the pastor. The prosecuting counsel, Paul Etusi, told the court that the accused grabbed the complainant from behind while she was in a bathroom within the church premises and raped her. Paul Etusi said the Dupe had already put the soap on her face as she began bathing when Pastor Sobowale from nowhere suddenly entered the bathroom and forcefully had sex with her, with soap on her face. According to Paul Etusi, the pastor had told Dupe that he had a vision about her and asked her to come to his church for deliverance. Paul Etusi said: "The accused has committed an offence contrary to section 357 and punishable under section 358 of criminal code of law of Ogun State, Nigeria, 2006." Magistrate A. Araba wasted no time in sending Pastor Sobowale to prison custody and adjourned the case till September 16, 2013 for advise from the DPP and trial.

Cocaine mess update: Redeemers' Univeristy re-admits students Posted: 03 Sep 2013 11:05 AM PDT In February 2013, 28 students of Redeemers University were expelled by the university for allegedly failing drug tests. The tests were conducted last November for 42 students during their exam. The expulsion generated a lot of criticisms causing the school to rescind its decision in April. The school wrote letters to the affected students asking them to face a panel to explain why they failed the test, after which the panel would make a new judgement. Well, the school has reviewed the case and has decided to re-admit all 28 students on the condition that the students will miss a whole semester and go for five month rehabilitation at a rehab centre. A decision that didn't go down well with the affected students and their parents.

Dino Melaye Finally Admits Impregnating Actress Bisi Ibidapo? Posted: 03 Sep 2013 11:03 AM PDT            Information reaching Olokunbolablessing.blogspot.Com is that actress Bisi Ibidapo-Obe, who caused a lot of confusion in the home of former House of Reps member, Hon Dino Melaye, with her pregnancy saga is now a happy lady. At last, it seems her cries have been heard and her prayers answered. Dino Melaye is said to have accepted full responsibility for Bisi's daughter. Six months ago, when Bisi put to bed, she told anyone who cared to listen that she camped Dino in her house when he visited Lagos back then and they slept together, resulting in pregnancy. But Dino said the actress may be suffering from afternoon dream, claiming nothing of such happened. Anyway, sources say Dino has sent people to Bisi, indicating his interest to take full responsibility for their baby and Bisi, who's on tour, is expected to meet Dino on her return to Nigeria. Congrats to them!
