Dear OBB readers; My fiancee treats her son badly

I'm engaged to a woman who has a three year old son. We are planning to get married by the last quarter of the year....but there is something she does that makes me cringe. She hates so much on her 3 year old son. At the slightest provocation, she spits venom on the little boy. She tells the child all the hurt his father caused her and even goes to the extent of saying he is a bad reminder of his father. I have spoken to her about this and she seems to be deep in this her ugly past and this is adversely affecting me and am thinking of walking out on the relationship. I don't want to marry a woman who is a bad mother.

Police arrest okada thieves in army uniform

Some robbers in army uniform
The police in Lagos State are convinced that some robbers are cashing in on the ban on commercial motorcycles (okada) in some areas in the state as some of them now dress up as security agents under the guise of seizing bikes only to sell off them later.
Some police sources disclosed this to our correspondent after the arrest of two suspects who were apprehended while attempting to seize a motorcycle from its owner in the Apapa area of the state.
OLOKUNBOLA Metro learnt that one of the suspects, Abdulrazaq Busari; dressed as a soldier and was accompanied by a second suspect, Suleiman Jinadu. They allegedly pretended to be enforcing the ban on okada when they were accosted by policemen attached to the Apapa Police Division and the Rapid Response Squad.

Police sources said the Divisional Police Officer of the station, CSP Usman Ndanbabo, had also led a team of policemen in an operation to impound motorcycles in the area, when they saw the suspects dragging a motorcycle from its rider.
Busari, who claimed to be 20-years-old, was said to be wearing the army camouflage. It was learnt that immediately they saw policemen, they attempted to escape, but the policemen gave them a hot pursuit and apprehended them.
The source said upon interrogation, the suspects confessed that they were civilians. They told police that they wanted to threaten the rider and collect money from him or collect the motorcycle.
The source said, "They were cashing in on the restriction on motorcycles in Lagos to snatch bikes from unsuspecting defiant riders using the army uniform.
"Busari said they bought the uniform from one Sanni, who claimed he got the uniform from a soldier. Buhari said Sanni sold the uniform to him for N1, 500. He claimed that immediately they gave Sanni the remaining N500, Sanni travelled to the northern part of the country.
"He said their intention was to use the uniform to make money by threatening commercial motorcycle operators. He said a man, Abdulhadi, promised to buy the motorcycles from them if they were able to snatch new ones.
"He said Abdulhadi promised to pay N50,000 for each motorcycle they delivered. Jinadu said he was the one who spoke with Abdulhadi who works at Ebute-Ero, Lagos Island.  Jinadu claimed that the operation through which they were arrested was their first time.
"They said they were about to strike when they were apprehended. Jinadu said the uniform gave them the confidence that they would succeed in their escapade. He claimed that he and Buhari lived at the Central Mosque, Tinubu, Lagos."
Commissioner of Police, Umar Manko, had said during a press conference recently that many of the uniformed men seen perpetrating crime were not security agents but impostors in uniform.
When contacted on the telephone, Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, said she would call back. However, she had not done so as of the time of going to the press.

Lingering hope for wedding bells

Dbanj and Genevieve Nnaji
Rumoured love affair between D'Banj and Genevieve Nnaji lingers into the new year, JAYNE AUGOYE writes
Although singer Dapo Oyebanjo, aka D'banj, once hinted that he was interested in Nollywood star, Genevieve Nnaji, a recent rumour that they are actually involved in a relationship compels critics to ask if he truly loves the actress as professed.
Everybody seems to wonder if they are engaged or simply leading their unsuspecting fans along, in what could readily pass for a publicity stunt.
Many people want to know what the artistes, whose romance was said to have hit the rocks in 2011, are really up to this time. According to reliable sources, the lovebirds now live together in D'banj's mansion in the upscale Lekki area of Lagos.

The 'power' couple, as they are called by fans, began making news headlines after Genevieve appeared in D'banj's 2010 hit music video, Fall in Love.
Tongues have been wagging ever since they were seen stepping out together at public functions. They were recently spotted at the star-studded birthday party of pop singer, Sean Tizzle, on December 15, 2013.
A day earlier, Genevieve was seen in the arms of the Kokomaster at the Gulder Club Ultimate party, which held on December 14 at the Oceanview Restaurant in Victoria Island, Lagos. The couple were dressed in matching white tops and black pants.
This is apart from the fact that D'banj played a prominent role at his lover's 32nd birthday party in London in 2011, the same year their affair packed up.
While 34-year-old Genevieve has always been silent about her love life, an obviously smitten D'banj often grabs every opportunity available to tell the world how much he loves the actress.
In 2010, Genevieve tried hard to ignore enquiries about her romance with the singer. She was actually quoted as saying, "I can only say that I would like to keep my private life private and I really don't have anything to say."
But the actress's romantic involvement with actor Kunle Coker and one time PMAN President, Preddy Okowa, did not go unnoticed by members of the public. Both affairs flourished at the outset of her career.
Notwithstanding Genevieve's evasiveness, in 2011, after months of denial from both lovers, it was eventually discovered that they had been in a secret relationship since 2009, long before the affair became public.
But, just before her fans could roll out the drums to celebrate, Genny, as she is fondly called, called off the relationship in March, leaving the Kokomaster heart-broken.
The break-up was attributed to Dbanj's refusal to get committed to the relationship, as well as the presence of many women in the singer's life.
Surprisingly, in the face of the numerous break-ups that characterise celebrity marriages and affairs, fans of the two artistes have obviously decided to throw their weights behind the two lovebirds. On social media network, their support knows no limit.
Aware that the grapevine had at one time bristled with the rumour that he was romantically involved with Genevieve, D'banj confirmed, in a recent interview with E-Punch, that the actress played a role in his success,.
He said, "Apart from the fact that she is my friend, she has been a part of my success. There is no way you are going to tell my story that Genevieve's name will not come up because she featured in my biggest song of all time, Fall in Love."
Also, as if to confirm that there was more to his relationship with the actress than he had always admitted, D'banj added, "I would love to have Genevieve as my wife.  We never can tell what God plans for us in the future. I have studied her and I realised that anyone that has her as his woman has found himself a treasure. Just like the Bible says, any man who finds a wife finds a good thing."
If the recent stories emanating from the gossip mill are anything to go by, then the fans and admirers of the celebrities will have to brace themselves for a symbolic wedding on this side of the globe in the nearest future.

Wife arrested while exporting heroin to husband

Posted: 03 Jan 2014 06:12 AM PST

Nsofor
A 34-year-old housewife, Ngozi Nsofor, has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for attempting to export 195 grammes of heroin to her husband in Liberia.
The drug was allegedly concealed inside a bag of female artificial hair and was intercepted on Tuesday during a search of luggage to Monrovia via an Arik flight at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
A mother of five, Nsofor said the bag was sent to her by her husband. She claimed ignorance of the heroin that was found hidden in the bag.
She said, "My husband called me from Liberia, where he lives, that somebody will give me a bag. He told me to buy female artificial hair, put in the bag and send it back to him.
"I bought the hair attachment as instructed by my husband. This is not my first time of sending goods to my husband. Unfortunately, heroin was discovered in the bag during a search by officers at the airport. I was shocked at the discovery. I ought to be preparing for my New Year celebration back home, but I am here writing a statement."

NDLEA Lagos Airport Commander, Mr. Hamza Umar, said, "The artificial hair was a distraction because the heroin was industrially concealed in a false bottom of the bag. It took the experience of the officers to have detected the drug. Preliminary investigation indicates that it is a family business. The suspect will soon be charged to court."
Chairman of the NDLEA, Mr.Ahmadu Giade, described the development as sad.
He said, "It is sad that a married couple can be involved in drug trafficking. What legacy are they bequeathing to their children? Parents must live by example because they have a responsibility to inculcate discipline in their children. Efforts are ongoing to determine the role of the husband in this matter."

But another source said he might also have been a victim of kidnap.

A source in Ikeji Arakeji area where the crash occurred disclosed that after the crash and the vehicle veered into the bush, they tried to give a helping hand but did not meet anybody inside the vehicle with the number plate already removed.

Osun State police command spokesperson, Mrs Folasade Odoro, said there was no official report to that effect while family members from Owo, Ondo State claimed that they had gone to various hospitals in Owena, Ikeji-Arakeji, Ipetu-Ijesa, Ilesa as his whereabout was still unknown at press time.

According to the family members on search party, the vehicle was found but the prophet was not found, adding that no blood stains or anything curious was noticed at the scene of the accident.

Elder Boro, a member of the Board of Trustees of the church in a telephone interview said Prophet Samuel phone rang throughout the night without response.

He added that may be he was praying on the mountain in Ilesa.

This was corroborated by Pastor Paul Opoweh, the Prophet's personal assistant, who said efforts to reach him on phone proved abortive.

When the wife, Prophetess Eseoghene Blessing Duromola was contacted, she said Prophet Sanuel went to amountain at Ilesa, with a promise to return to Akure to pick her and the children to Warri for the end of the year vigil but that did not happen.#
